From my studio in Bude, North Cornwall I design as I make, working hands-on to create un-repeatable pieces of footwear for the individual. I follow the seasons, being drawn to the finest materials I can find on my travels with each customer and project in mind.

Mending some clogs today that I made for a customer about 7/8 years ago. I’ve added an extra pin on the heel strap on the left shoe where the pins had loosened through wear, and the strap had come off. Hopefully these will last some more years, and actually as a maker it’s really useful to know how things can fail in order to make them better next time.

I wonder if I’ll make clogs again? I have a stash of soles in the loft…maybe you could make your own with them one day? A clog jam…

Some concentration happening at my sashiko mending session & Q&A at the climate festival today, hosted by 🙌🏻

Something I took away from the hour was how much confidence is boosted by getting some tips and having a practice with guidance. I’m pretty sure that everyone who attended will find it easier to mend their own clothes and that’s what it’s all about.
