What a great day for the Falmouth Sea Shanty festival xx
⚓🎶 FALMOUTH INTERNATIONAL SEA SHANTY FESTIVAL WEATHER & WEEKEND OUTLOOK 🎶⚓
Powered by Cornwall Flooring & Home Co don't forget to give them a follow.
Good evening everyone,
The Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival returns this weekend, bringing thousands of visitors, dozens of performers and plenty of maritime atmosphere to Cornwall's historic harbour town.
Many people may not realise that the event has a strong connection with the Falmouth Classics Regatta. Falmouth Classics has been held on the waters around Falmouth since 1987, celebrating traditional and classic vessels. In 2013, it was relaunched as the three-day Falmouth Classics Regatta to coincide with the Sea Shanty Festival, creating a fantastic combination of historic boats, maritime heritage, music and community spirit. The sight of beautifully restored vessels in the harbour accompanied by the sound of sea shanties drifting across the waterfront creates one of Cornwall's most unique and memorable weekends.
As for the weather, it looks like organisers, performers and visitors have been handed a pretty decent forecast.
Saturday is expected to bring a good mixture of sunshine and cloud throughout the day, with plenty of bright spells and even some lovely blue skies making an appearance. There is a very small chance of an isolated shower, but for most of the day, conditions should remain dry and pleasant.
Temperatures on Saturday will start around 14°C to 17°C by lunchtime, rising to 16°C to 20°C during the afternoon before easing back to 13°C to 16°C during the evening. If you're staying for the evening performances along the waterfront, you may want to pack a light jacket as it will feel noticeably cooler after sunset.
Sunday is looking equally pleasant, with more sunshine and variable cloud cover. Again, there is a slight chance of a passing shower, but most places should remain dry with some excellent opportunities to enjoy the harbour, music and festivities under bright skies.
Temperatures on Sunday will begin around 10°C to 16°C, climbing to 17°C to 20°C during the afternoon, before settling back to 14°C to 16°C through the evening.
A couple of things to keep in mind if you're heading out for the day. UV levels will be HIGH, meaning sunburn can occur surprisingly quickly despite the occasional cloud cover. Pollen levels are also expected to be HIGH, so hay fever sufferers may want to come prepared.
Overall, it looks like a very enjoyable weekend for one of Cornwall's most famous maritime festivals. Whether you're listening to traditional sea shanties, admiring the classic boats, exploring the town or simply enjoying a Cornish pasty by the harbour, the weather should play its part nicely.
Have a fantastic weekend and enjoy the festival!
Kind regards
