I do love being sent photos of my happy brides on their special day 🩷

This beautiful dress was a lot of work, which included:

🪡 Removing a zipper and inserting a corset back

🪡 Building up the cup area, adding a modesty insert and layering over applique flowers

🪡Taking in at the waist

🪡 Creating longer, wider straps for more support

🪡 Taking up several hems!

A happy, beautiful bride 🥰

Elissa contacted me earlier in the year for her alterations - with one catch! She lives in Canada and was coming to the UK to get married in Tavistock. No problem I said - and then she let me know we only had a week's window to do it all in 🫣

With this in mind, I ensured I had no other work in for that week - not easy for the final week of August!

Alterations included:

🪡 A shoulder lift, which involved unpicking the lace and hand stitching it back on.

🪡 Several hems taking up.

🪡 A lace hem alteration which included the removal of some delightful horse hair, reattachment of horse hair and hand stitching of lace trim back on.

🪡 Finally, after discovering a tear in her veil, I also set to making her a brand new veil 👰‍♀️

This dress was a mission, mainly due to time constraints, but it was so worth it!

One of my beautiful brides from last year 🥰 This dress was absolutely stunning!

Alterations included taking the bodice in, bust adjustments for a closer fit, and lots of unpicking and hand stitching to shorten that lace hem.

Making a bride look perfect for their special day is such a joy!

Don't forget to support local businesses in the run up to Christmas! I popped in to Colin's Bridal & Menswear and found lots of cute little gifts, including this adorable mug 😍 🩰

Now it's back to my sewing machine as I have several beautiful gowns to alter for Christmas parties 💕

I love this quilt so much ❤️

🧵I used some of the block patterns from the Sister Sampler Quilts book then added my own strip designs and framing to it.

🌈The colours are just gorgeous, don't you think?

I chose the blocks for their names too!

The top one is Grandmother's Frame (because this was for my granddaughter)

The second block down is Hattie's Trick (my granddaughter's name 🩷)

The third one down is Sister's Choice (placed as the third one because she is one of three sisters)

The fourth and final one is Contrary Wife (because my Mum used to call me 'Clairy Mary Quite Contrary, and I try to weave my Mum into anything I make for the family 💕).

This beautiful quilt, like all of my quilts, has a bamboo and cotton blend wadding and is made from 100% cotton.
