🚨 URGENT: Our Green Belt is under threat. 🚨
At Eco Bee, we are all about protecting nature and building healthy, sustainable communities. But a massive industrial threat is looming over our local countryside.
East West Rail (EWR) has proposed a massive, 24/7 industrial Train Care Centre right here in the village of Fulbourn.
Why we are vehemently opposed:
😢 Green Belt Destruction: The site sits entirely within protected Cambridge Green Belt land.
😢 Constant Pollution: A round-the-clock facility for heavy train washing, toilet emptying, and industrial waste handling. It means continuous light, noise, and air pollution right next to homes, schools, and delicate natural chalk streams.
😢 Carbon-Intensive: EWR’s own data shows this site produces 53% more greenhouse gases during construction than alternative sites in Foxton.
😢 Affront to Democracy : They are completely bypassing the Fulbourn Neighbourhood Plan, which 91.93% of voting residents backed to protect our rural character.
Even if you don’t live in Fulbourn, this affects you. If major infrastructure projects can tear up environmental protections and ignore community voices here, it sets a dangerous precedent for green spaces everywhere. We need to hold them accountable to their own sustainability targets!
