A gentle reminder. Should you, your children have a Halloween esque get together coming soon.

Start to think now about what you'd like to 'go as'. Look the pre loved sales sites. Charity shops. Facebook marketplace. Ask in your local groups.

Taking a little time now to consider plans, options. Will prevent you grabbing over priced plastic s**t at the eleventh hour.... see also. Christmas jumper day....

The irony of someone speaking in shock about the recent flash flooding...Whilst they collect their pile of several fast fashion deliveries...

Over the years I've worked to try to deliver what is confronting, heavy information, in a gentle way.

It's been some time since I hosted a workshop how I used to, remember those? To women who came to me ready to make change.

But. I have been accepting more invitations to speak, to educate and challenge audiences that may not be actively seeking out these learnings. Who didn't ask to hear it but are listening.

To see women , children engaged, asking questions, beginning to understand the power they have as a consumer, noticing the control they have over being influenced. Is powerful.

We've talked before about brands positioning 'new in' pieces as though they're something new. Likely pieces they've launched from looking back at archives. Using language laced with urgency.
As a consumer we have a choice. We can buy into that brand new polyester based bag we're told we need to. And fast.

Or.

We can push back against those shopping behaviours. Challenge what the high street brands are feeding us. And look to when these pieces were around before.

If it's a trend now. it will have been around before.

This bag from m&s is a prime example. I have this St Michael holdall for visiting clients homes with that is almost exactly the same as this 'brand new of the moment' briefcase bag. And there are many more when searching terms such as 'St michael Vintage. Bowling. Briefcase. Holdall. Bag' for the same price point.

As consumers, Our decisions carry an impact.

OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO OUR PALESTINIAN COMMUNITY and help a family rebuild their lives .. please take the time to read below (and swipe through all slides for Rami’s story)🛝

Many of us have been bearing witness to the destruction and devastation of the lives of our fellow humans in Gaza for more almost a whole year.

We are working collectively, to raise survival funds that will be directly distributed to a Palestinian family in need.

20 year old Rami and his family of 7 have evacuated to Egypt and are in need of support to rebuild and repair their lives.

When Palestinians arrive in Egypt there is no official infrastructure or government scheme to support them, to provide them shelter, or guide them. Many are classed as illegal residents and live in limbo with no right to work or access to healthcare needs.

Separated from loved ones still stuck in Gaza, Rami and his family are all suffering trauma and experiencing the psychological effects of living through what they did prior to evacuating. In order to cross the border, they had to incur debts of 30,000 USD.

Often arriving with nothing and no support, Palestinians fleeing are relying on the goodwill and support or ordinary people and grassroots organisations.

By leveraging our privilege, working together and sharing and donating to his family fundraiser we can make a huge impact.

Because there is power in collective.
And community is the strongest form of resistance ❤️
