barefoot-vintage.co.uk Irreverent Elegance, Seasoned Grace, Freedom of Expression. That's Barefoot Vintage! Out with the New and in with the vintage!

Barefoot Vintage was an organic process and happened without me really even thinking about it. Blending my business experience and my true passion in life just made sense, everything fell into place and alongside my husband and children, I can truly say I have found my niche in this world. For me it has always been about the history behind the garment and so vintage was always my passion first and

foremost. Vintage clothes are quite simply put the BEST MADE CLOTHES EVER! They were built to last and so they have! The design was impeccable, the tailoring incredible and durable. And as an added bonus by buying Vintage you are reducing your carbon foot print. What more could you want?.....BAREFOOT VINTAGE of course! Sourced from private collections, personal heirlooms, some fashion houses and antique collectors, our collection features dresses, suits, separates, lingerie, coats, fur and accessories – regenerated and restored and ready for you to wear.

✨Vintage Editorials I Colour Plays✨

Translating French fashion editorials to English is hard work….and not always as simple as it may seem. Yes Google translate does come into play – most certainly on this occasion – however – you have to be somewhat of a wordsmith or even have a minor ability to decrypt – as not every sentence or word translates well.

What does translate incredibly well is the photography. As it is said – “A picture is worth a thousand words” and so WOW – do these images do this statement justice. Bagsie (used in the U.K. to call dibbs, to claim first choice, by saying bagsie you are saying it is yours because you are the first to claim it.) on the clover print pant suit please! xxNxx

A product I can't believe hasn't sold yet! I fell in love with this gorgeous 1960s suit by Global Inspirations the second I saw it. It's a fantastic statement piece! More importantly it's covered in bright flowers and is on the lower end of our price range. It fits a modern UK size 10-12, and you can check it out on me by heading to www.tiktok.com/

Someone please buy it before I lose all faith in humanities fashion sense 😭

✨The Collection✨

Established in 2007 Barefoot Vintage has since become an international online resource for buyers of luxury vintage clothing and accessories, while ‘The Collection’ itself serves owners and designers from every country associated with style and fashion both past and present.

Applying a thorough and detailed conservation method, each piece in our collection is individually quarantined, meticulously examined, fully restored, archived, and then sealed in a climate-controlled depository until the point of sale, while I would add that this deliberate process has instilled immediate and continued confidence in all of our clients.

For the integrity of our inventory ‘The Collection’ is currently only visible online, although private viewings and customer collections may be arranged by prior agreement, however a complete guide to determining proper fit, along with a detailed explanation of our shipping and return policy can be found on our customer care menu.

Experience has taught me to share what I love with others, and so it is a guilty pleasure for me to expand ‘The Collection’ for you as I personally strive to improve the ‘Barefoot Vintage’ experience every day of this great adventure we call life.

Thank you for being a part of that journey.

Vintage Editorials I Daniel's Angels I Vogue Magazine 1974

“Before your very eyes – something to amaze and delight you from Polaroid and Simpson of Piccadilly. From Simpson – beautiful clothes by Daniel Hechter and sunglasses by Polaroid, captured for posterity and you by David Bailey, using Polaroid’s revolutionary SX-70 Land Camera.”

“Before your very eyes – something irresistible, Simpson and Daniel Hechter, with the SX-70 Land Camera, it’s all so simple. You focus, touch a red electric shutter button, and within 2 seconds out spills an apparently blank sheet of film. Gradually, almost magically, the picture develops before you.”

Clothing for this article were sourced from Simpson by Daniel Hechter. Once again David Bailey astonishes us with his striking imagery using a SX-70 Land Camera.

✨Designer Spotlight I Hardy Aimes✨

Perhaps best known as the ‘dressmaker to the Queen’, Sir Edwin Hardy Amies KCVO drew his fashion aspirations from his mother, and having turned down a university education in lieu of journalism, Hardy eventually wound up writing for Couture House Lachasse, London, shortly before becoming their managing director in 1934 at just twenty-five.

Following his drafting into the Intelligence Corps during WWII, Hardy cheekily arranged a Belgian Vogue fashion shoot less than twenty-four hours after D-Day, and was widely renowned for having had his military uniforms tailored in Savile Row.

Establishing his own fashion house in 1945, with financing from the Countess of Jersey, Hardy’s suit and menswear designs became a firm favourite with the British public, and he soon found himself Vice-Chairman of the Incorporated Society of London Fashion Designers for a brief period.

Boasting commissions from the 1966 England World Cup Team, 1972 British Olympic Squad, Oxford University Boat Club and the London Stock Exchange, Hardy later offered designs for brands like Crown wallpaper, while costume making for the likes of Stanley Kubrick throughout most of the 1960s.

With a very close relationship spanning almost forty years, Hardy consistently styled and created numerous outfits for Queen Elizabeth II, before receiving a knighthood for his service in 1989, while his own fashion house was sold to Debenhams in 1971, only to be repurchased in 1981, until a final departure to the Luxury Brands Group in 2001.

Sir Hardy Amies passed away in 2003 aged 93, and leaves behind a simple style legacy based upon impeccable taste and presence, no matter the occasion.

✨Designer Spotlight I Jean Allen✨

Style advocate from a young age, Jean Parry-Billings is best known as a prolific British dress designer, whose work spanned well over two decades, and was worn widely across London and the greater UK by young up-and-coming teens and vivacious twenty-somethings.

Having learnt her craft from older cousin Peggy Allen, Jean established her fashion label ‘Jean Allen’ as an homage to her tutor, who remained involved with its inception until her own retirement shortly afterwards, leaving Jean to drive the design side alone.

With her husband looking after the financial side of the label, Jean Allen clothing was soon enjoying demands in excess of 1500 garments per week, and could always be found in high-end stores such as Peter Jones, House of Fraser and Harrods, while her affordable cocktail dresses were a brand leader throughout the period.

With particular emphasis on fabric quality, Jean frequented numerous Paris and Rome fashion shows, so as to marry the latest designs with her choice of materials, thereby striking a delicate balance of style and substance, a rarity in many quarters of the British fashion scene at the time.

Releasing up to eight collections a year, Jean Allen also enjoyed overseas success, consistently exporting to Europe and North America as demand continued to soar, and as a fan of Italian fashion house Balenciaga, Jean’s opulence was showcased in her personal life, as she enjoyed fast cars and large sprawling estates across the British countryside.

Sadly after her husband and business partner Kenneth died in the mid 1980s, Jean reluctantly chose to wind down the label, before spending the rest of her years in relative seclusion, until passing in the spring of 2016 age 88.

✨A note from Natasha✨
Plum, pink, maroon and byzantium – a melody of hues intricately weaved into a spectacular design. Plunging neckline, a deep fitted waistband, a polished cut and splendid fabric. The main body of the dress has an Aztec or Amerindian print in bold, lavish colours, trimmed at the internal strap with the smoothest, most opulent burgundy velvet. A glorious gown you will be sure to be seen in – a true head turner!
