📸 Victorian Welsh brass colliers ‘Twist’ box from Ebbw Valley, engraved with ‘John Weeber, Waunllywd 1893’ on the front and an illegible personal message on the reverse.

‘Twist’ was a name given for chewing to***co. Many coal miners chewed twist underground, as smoking was prohibited. It was believed to help calm nerves and help keep the mouth moist in the dusty environment.
