How my story began
My sewing story started over 43 years ago. Even though I learned to sew in school, as all girls did then, my main influence was my Grandmother. My Grandmother was a seamstress, she taught me so much, attention to detail and quality of work that will remain with me forever. I also still own, and often use, my Grandmother’s sewing machine - a Singer Featherweight 221k. I sewed for myself, my family, my children, my home.
To embelish my work, I keep my Oddment Treasure Chest - I collect pieces for my Treasure Chest anywhere and everywhere and have been sourced from local curosity shops to markets in Istanbul. I weave my pieces within the fabric of my products.
I also like to use inktense paints to decorate fabric, I love the vibrancy of the colours. And then highlight the paints with free motion embroidery.
