*THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR IS GO GO GO!!!*

Hi all! 👋 YOU SURVIVED (relative term! 🫠🤣) THE 6x WEEKS!!! Hope you made some memories with your loved ones 🫶🏽.

A few things I’d like to share/offer if that’s ok. This update is brought to you by Lieutenant Cooper, proudly modelling the girls fitted PE top and pleated skirt 😬.

1) I’ll repeat again our genuine thanks to all the Holyrood families who supported our uniform initiative on the lead up to and over the summer break. Some really really nice connections were made.

For those starting in Year 7, I hope today went well and not too many tears were shed by the parents 🥰.

For those in Year 8 and above, I hope tomorrow is equally as good for you.

2) Last remaining uniform stock - I’ll post separately tomorrow a list of the last remaining new items we have here. As we can no longer order any further items from [Holyrood Academy’s official uniform provider], if you need anything we do not have, then we’ll continue to direct you to their online purchasing websh*te.

3) THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ONE 👇.
I’ve heard that some Holyrood families are experiencing delays with their direct orders from [Holyrood Academy’s official uniform provider].

If you have already placed an order and it has yet to be delivered, then I’d like to try to help…

I’m happy for you to take the delayed item(s) from the fitting rack here to solve your uniform problem now. When your order is delivered, you replace said item(s). I then go back to having a full/complete fitting rack but it saves you being without for longer than necessary.

It’ll mean I may need to suspend fittings for a little while and I take the risk that you do a runner with my uniform 🙏🤞🫣😬 but it’ll be worth the disruption if it helps some of you out.

Hope this makes sense. I can only help out so many families as I only have 1x of each size on the fitting rack, but it’s a genuine offer so please do take me up on it.

I wanted to just take a minute to sit down and reflect on the last few weeks. Requests for fittings have slowed down this week as expected as the cut off date of 1st August for ordering new uniform from [Holyrood Academy’s official uniform supplier] has been and gone. For those of you who we have met who needed to still get things ordered, I hope that it was trouble free and you’re now ready for Term 1.

Cooper and I have had such a great time meeting so many of you over the past few weeks. Over 100 families have given us a glimpse into their lives and antics - it’s been a real privilege.

I love the community spirit in this area, it feels to me - as a relative outsider - so so strong.

And on a personal note - thank you all for whatever time you spent with my son Cooper 🙏🤝 when you visited. He’s been my rock solid Lieutenant in managing this community initiative. Meeting you all, engaging in a range of conversations, gaining an insight into different lives, listening to his slightly frazzled dad 🫣😵‍💫 rant on about the state of the world and commercialism gone mad… I hope that his world view has been shaped a little by you all. Genuinely - thank you.

The fitting service will continue. As your Little People grow out of their existing uniforms and you need to confirm sizings before ordering, or for mid year new starters, please get in contact. As a response to your requests, the 82% cotton blend plain black jumpers I have been trialling have been a massive hit, so they’re here to stay. So when the weather gets colder, we’ll have a supply of all sizes here for you. Shirts and blouses next…? 😬

Also don’t forget that the Chard Community Hub also have a set of Holyrood Academy uniform to try on it it’s more convenient to pop in there. They’re a top bunch 🫶🏽.

Hope you’re all having an awesome summer. It’s hard though, juggling adulting and the need to be there for your children. The struggle is real for neuro typical and spicy families alike. I really get the conflict and guilt.

*Plain Black Jumpers - You said, we heard*

Hi all, last post of the day for us.

A number of families we’ve met over the last few weeks have asked about plain black jumpers.

I’m going on record by first saying that I *do not* in any way, want to look like I’m trying to replace the institution that was Barrons of Chard. They are Legendary and my Pygmy sized 6.5UK won’t fill their boots.

But what I do try to do is listen and help where I can. So I’ve considered what I would want my Little People to wear that strikes the right balance between quality, durability and cost.

I’m really pleased to tell you that I’m trialling a batch of plain black jumpers and I’m as excited about them as I can be about… err… black jumpers?!🤭

Details in the photo. I’d be really really interested in your feedback from those of you who visit and give them a look.

Hi everybody 👋. It’s nearly Hump Day! Hope your week is going well. Sorry I’ve been quiet this week. I’ve needed to be out and about on other jobs and I’ve not even had a coffee - that’s made me sad 😞.

FINAL DELIVERY IMMINENT!
After an unfortunate delay that I was beyond my control, the latest/final outstanding order of uniform items from [Holyrood Academy’s official uniform supplier] is on its way to me as I type. For those who asked us to help with the ordering process, we’ll be on contact as soon as it landed.

Uniform fitting is here for as long as I’m able to but this will sadly be the last batch where we can help with this part of the process. From here on in, once you confirm the size uniform you need, I need to refer you to [Holyrood Academy’s official uniform supplier] to order online. I’m sorry I can’t help any more than this.

3x WEEKS UNTIL CUT OFF
Please don’t forget the 01/08 cut off date to order new uniforms online to guarantee delivery in September.

FITTING SLOTS DURING SUMMER HOLIDAYS
Cooper and I will still be offering slots when schools finish. Probably a few mornings a week including Saturdays. Just contact us from this page and we can arrange something. I also understand that The Chard Community Hub will also have a uniform set to try on over the summer if that’s a more convenient location for you. *Ordering Update - 4 weeks to go!*

Happy Monday all! 👋. Hope you survived the weekend and that you’re starting the week strong 💪🙏🤞. This public service announcement is brought to you by a half devoured caramel latte.

Two or so weeks until the end of term, Four weeks until the Price & Buckland ordering deadline of 1st August to guarantee availability for the start of Term 1 in September. Please, please don’t leave it too late to get new uniform sorted. Starting secondary can be hard enough for our (not so!) Little People and we owe it to them to not add to their childhood traumas 🫣😵‍💫😬.

A massive Thank You and appreciative 👊 for all those families who visited last week. We had our busiest week - Lieutenant Cooper is demanding payment for his time in sweets or cold hard cash.

The order for last week has gone in. It’s the biggest one yet at just shy of £2,000 🫣🥵. I’ll update you when the boxes have landed, hopefully the end of this week and with no items out of stock.

If you have a busy fortnight planned, please be assured that we’ll be around over the summer hols to help as best we can. Other than our summer jolly from 10/08 - 18/08 (inclusive), we’ll be here with blazers in hand.

I really hope your transition days today and tomorrow are really fun and encouraging for them all. And have a good meeting tonight for those attending the Meet the Tutors at Holyrood.

*Frequently Asked Questions…*

Hi all, these mid week musings are brought to you by a pecan caramel latte 🙂.

I’m taking a few minutes to stop and so I thought I’d share some of the questions and observations over the past couple of weeks since starting the uniform fittings. It’s been a real privilege and so much fun to meet so many families might I add 🙏🤝.

So in no particular order:

1) “I didn’t know you were here” - I run the uniform fittings from a commercial unit. I have this unit down the road from our home in Combe St Nicholas. I have caring responsibilities at home and so I need to be close by and the unit is cheaper (sadly) than a high street/retail location in Chard.

2) “It’s like a garden shed of everything!” - This space is my little sanctuary of all of the things that I love and serves a few purposes: a) I run my small pop up/online Pop Culture shop from the space. Think Funko Pops, other collectables, comic book, film, video game, anime and manga props, clothing and memorabilia. Basically anything I think is cool and nerdy… 😬. b) my crafting workshop. I have an inner creative need and so I like to make things from various materials for private commissions, to sell or just because I think it’s cool and so I hyperfixate on it for a while. All the dangerous tools and materials are away from the customer area, so please don’t worry. c) this Holyrood Uniform community initiative. I had the space and will to help, so here we find ourselves.

3) I need to order more Holyrood ties.

4) This is a safe space. I understand neurodiversity. I get Autistic superpowers. I get meltdowns. I understand mental health. This is a safe space for you and your Little People. No judgement here. Ever 👊🙏🤝. You just do you and I roll with it.

5) “You have sweets!” I find myself referring to it as “The Pocket Money Tuck Shop” (better than “The Diabetes Shelf” which was my original working title). I have a small selection of goodies and treats starting from 5p, feel free to bring some change to incentivise a more focussed uniform fitting if it helps you get through the trauma of it… 🫣🤣.

6) I need to order more Holyrood ties.

7) “Do you take card payments?”. I’m working on it. Currently cash or bank transfer on or after collection - I don’t need any money in advance to order uniform items. Just settle up after it’s all sorted. I’m just trying to delay more fees and costs to make this as economical as possible for families. I appreciate your understanding.

So that’s it really. I just thought it would help to know some of this to help with your visit.
