FOR SALE! 6/7

Absolutely beautiful 1920s cloche hat in a warm straw coloured “visca” (viscose) knit material. Having had a NOS hat in the same stuff I now know this material is “visca”. Delightful design with an upturned front and side drapes, trimmed with toning art deco velvet flowers. Beautiful lining “Newport Hat - New York, Paris”

Size: this fits a 20.5” to 21” head and won’t go bigger.

Condition: I’ve done quite a lot of work on this including re-stitching the lining and it’s looking fab! Tiny bit of colour variation to the ribbon but otherwise fab condition. Lining is strong and gorgeous

FOR SALE! 5/7 comment “interested”

Just fantastic late 30s or early 40s tall perchy hat in a brown straw with a really stylish green ribbon trimming! Brim can be worn up or down at the back. The ribbon is mounted on a wired base so that you can position it artistically.

Size: will fit any head size but since it has a relatively wide brim and some height, it’s especially suitable for large heads.

Condition: excellent, no flaws to report.

Price: £130 plus shipping 🤎

FOR SALE! 4/7 comment “interested” to claim.

There’s nothing like a wide brimmed, shallow crowned, 1930s hat! This is an absolute beauty, with really clever shaping and ribbon detailing. Because of the under cap, it’s a bit deceptive and isn’t as flexible as some 30s shallow crown hats - it’s a small. Made from one of those very curious 30s “straws” which seems to be a mixture of natural fibre and plastic of some sort. I wish I was better at identifying these! Finished with brown petersham, and colour is a pale beige.

Size: small. This is quite a snug fit on my 21 inch mannequin, I’m afraid, so I wouldn’t even recommend for as large as a 21 1/2 inch head.

Condition: excellent, the only flaw to report is some faint marking on the underside of the brim, shown in the close-up. I will supply it with a new hat elastic.

SOLD PP X 3/7
This is a beautiful, top quality, rollable Panama hat (although I have carefully steamed the brim so that it sits nicely, so only roll it if you have to!) in a very white shade, finished with a beautiful light turquoise/aqua band which suggests it is a ladies hat. It also fits deep, and so looks beautiful worn as a 1920s cloche. It has no markings except for a very faint pencil marking in the top of the crown, so I have absolutely no idea how old it is; it has some age.

Size: M-L it fits my 23 inch head, fairly snuggly, and will probably go down to a 22 inch head

Condition: It’s incredibly clean, no flaws.

FOR SALE! 2/7 comment “interested” to claim

A totally stunning little early 1930s hat and a glossy black straw-like material with fantastically elegant trimming in black and white Petersham ribbon. This one is actually from Germany, made by Mary Schapke in Karlsruhe. It’s beautifully detailed with a wired edge to the brim and I love the fact that it is fully lined.

Size: a small to medium size, good fit on my 21 inch millinery head but also fits the 22 inch head comfortably

Condition: exceptionally good, looks unworn

Price: £95 plus shipping

FOR SALE! 1/7 Comment ‘interested’ to claim x
An absolutely lovely, fresh 1940s hat in one of those curious millinery fabrics popular in the period, slightly rough textured, and in a buttery neutral shade. It’s in impeccable condition, with its original flowers, which I have steamed and are just beautiful and very clean. The brim has a wired edge.

Size: shallow and should work on most head sizes, it’s modelled on a 22 inch head but works on the 21” mannequin and my 23” head also

Condition: excellent, no flaws to report except some very tiny specks as on the petals of the flowers. Will be supplied with a new hat elastic.

Price: £95 plus shipping

SOLD!

This is a fantastic, crisp wide-brimmed hat in a delightful very pale pink textile straw. Wonderful for summer events! This dates from the 1940s and it has a small, squared-off crown, trimmed elegantly with three pale pink petersham bows (its original trimming) and a lovely rolled ribbon band. It has a wired edge for a very smart shape.

Size: My 1930s lady has a 21 inch head and the hat fits further down in a more conventional way. If you are happy with a slightly more perched fit, it also looks great on a 22 inch head like the Second Lady.

Condition: very clean and looks extremely smart. Colour isn’t wholly even but you can see from photos it presents beautifully.

Sold ❤️

I’m so sorry it has taken me so long to listen this hat! A wonderful 1940s “toy“ hat in a white straw, trimmed with a luscious covered red velvet, such a clever design!

Size: one size fits all. It’s not a very tiny toy hat, so proportions will work nicely on a larger head. My mannequin has a 22 inch head.

Condition: incredibly good condition, just a little discolouration on the inner Band. Comes with its original double elastic to keep it in place on your head.
