GETNER + WHITE ONYX
This Thursday
Alexanders Live , Chester
Restless Bear brings one of Manchester’s most exciting emerging punk bands to Alexander’s Live, with Chester’s own White Onyx joining as special guests.
GETNER are a Manchester-based four-piece built around a collision of post-punk, garage rock, Irish storytelling and full-throttle live energy.
Frontman Quentin Wylie and drummer/vocalist Ruairi Coyle both hail from Derry, alongside guitarist Charles Barber and bassist Will Milton. Their songs pull heavily from Irish history and lived experience, while musically the band occupy ground somewhere between IDLES, Gurriers and Vi**ra Boys.
Their 2026 single “Motorman” tackles Operation Motorman and the legacy of The Troubles from an unusually human perspective. It’s political without losing the thing GETNER seem to value most: groove, noise and a live show that regularly spills off the stage and into the crowd.
Recent Manchester live coverage described them as:
“Loud, energetic and gloriously thrashy.”
The press has been paying attention too:
“Fuelled by a kind of positive rage.” — Far Out Magazine
“One of the most promising Manchester bands on the scene.” — A&R Factory
“A studio recording that crackles with intensity from start to finish.” — The Pentatonic
And if you're wondering about the name: GETNER is Derry slang for being badly hungover.
WHITE ONYX
Opening the night are White Onyx, an emerging alternative punk band from Chester who are starting to push beyond the local circuit, including headline activity in Manchester.
Their sound pulls together abrasive punk energy with the more exposed, cathartic side of early emo.
The band describe it as:
“In-your-face punk attitude mixed with the emotional vulnerability and anthemic catharsis of early emo.”
