What makes it so special?

Inside the skeleton of the frame is the remnants of Sunlight Savon (soap) boxes.

We are working on the second round of unpacking the van today from our French trip sourcing.

Look at these two beautiful antique French bo***ir dolls which have been unloaded.

Bo***ir dolls have a unique history behind them, they weren’t made for children but for women wanting to accessorise their homes but also themselves.

The history of bo***ir dolls is really fascinating as I’ve researched them in depth over the years.

A clothing designer called Paul Poiret is believed to have started the trend creating high fashion art doll pieces around 1910/1915. Celebrities of the time were photographed with bo***ir dolls and this catapulted the trend.

Another interesting fact is that women would then take these rather fashionable looking dolls to wine bars and parties, like a fancy fashionable companion!

They really are works of art, straw filled with handpainted faces, eyelashes and red nails.
