And yes — Mikado is structured, firm and completely unforgiving when the cut is wrong.

But when the corsetry, seams and silhouette are built around her body, rather than trying to force her body into the dress?

Different story. 🤍

We used the structure of the Mikado to sculpt, support and celebrate her curves.

No hiding.
No shrinking.
Just beautiful design doing what it should do.

The beginning stages of a gothic wedding dress 🖤

At this point, the dress is not finished.
There is no final lace placement yet.
No full detailing.
No completed bodice.

But this stage is so important because this is where the shape, movement and mood of the dress begin.

With a black wedding dress, the challenge is always balance.

Black fabric can look dramatic and romantic, but if it is not built properly, it can quickly become too heavy, too flat, or too harsh.

So before we add all the final details, we have to look at the foundation.

How the fabric falls.
How the skirt moves.
How much volume it needs.
Where the waist should sit.
How the sheer layers soften the black.
How to make it feel bridal, not costume.

Because this bride didn’t just want a black dress.

She wanted something romantic, alternative, elegant and completely personal.

This is the part of bespoke dressmaking people often don’t see.
