Following on from International Hat Day & the 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins- this week, my cycling helmet from worn over last weeks beanie. It is an absolute pleasure to ride my bike to work. A journey that takes me through the park and under a Norman arch and onto the Whiteway. On leaving this Roman road and onto the lanes towards Calmsden, the Redwing and Fieldfare have moved on to be replaced by the Barn Owl, Bullfinch, Buzzard and boxing brown Hares; Woodcock, Woodpeckers both Green and Great Spotted, Stonechat, Skylark, Linnet & Yellowhammer; Red kite, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk & Jay; and lately, a female Merlin alighting from the hedgerow, gliding at knee height in front of me, setting a pace that’s far beyond my capabilities

On the workbench today - experiments in moulding!
Semi spheres and half eggs - all are specific projects in the pipeline, finished work will show up later. Very happy with how accurately these have turned out. However, the black form is the result of pressing a leather that just would not comply, but happy with the unexpected result …

Saw my first Goosander (mergus merganser) on the marshes of Porthmadog estuary, so this week I present my birdwatching hat ‘Tregwynt’ from Henry Griffiths and Sons - tweed, with found feathers
