This summer, we're planning to take even more wool from our local farmers and continue growing the Clapdale Wool project.

The reality is that transforming raw fleece into beautiful, finished products is not simple. The costs of scouring, spinning, weaving and manufacturing here in the UK are significant. To keep taking wool from local farms year after year, we need your support.

Every purchase makes a difference.

Our Clapdale Wool range now includes hand knitting yarn, tweed cloth, flat caps, beanies, jumpers, travel rugs, bags and household essentials - all made from fully traceable wool sourced from farms here in the Yorkshire Dales.

By choosing Clapdale Wool, you're supporting British manufacturing, and ensuring that the farmers who supply the wool receive a share of the profits from every product sold.

Our traceable Clapdale wool story starts with the sheep.

We use all the breeds found on the fields around us here in the Yorkshire Dales - Dalesbred, Mules, Texel, Blue Faced Leicester.

We want Clapdale Wool to represent this area which is why we’ve included all the breeds, even some that aren’t usually associated with knitting wool. It also means we can work with as much of our local farmer’s wool as possible, not just those with the softest fleeces.

Social media is such a big part of how small businesses connect, share what they do, and reach new people.

But as a small family business, finding the time to post consistently can be a real challenge.

We’re so grateful for everyone that follows our story, but would love to know what you’d like to see more of.

Unrelated picture of me in a woolly jumper, because what else!

Thanks - Helen

They are so helpful, for us and other people who are looking to buy from us. Plus, they make our day.

Did you know that no two of our patchwork Harris Tweed flat caps are ever the same.

Each cap is cut from a unique roll of patchwork Harris Tweed, the pattern and colour placement will always vary, making every hat completely one of a kind.

A truly unique piece of British craftsmanship.
