Next Monday I'll be running my beginner's hand embroidery workshop in my studio, in Clearwell. Fuelled by tea, coffee and homemade cake, this will be a relaxing day where you will learn a minimum of 10 hand embroidery stitches along with ideas for how to combine them. I'm really excited to be running my brand new Crewelwork course this month. It's fair to say I've spent a lot more time stitching this sample than I ever intended to but I do like to stitch 😂 The same design can look so different depending on the stitches used and the colour order of the threads - running light to dark or dark to light. Which version is your favourite, or would you mix and match? All worked on linen using Appletons crewel 2 ply thread. Big shout out to who got me out of a tight spot when I ran out of thread with 2 metres to go (rookie error!)

It has certainly felt very spring-like this week as we've enjoyed making a whole garden of tulips on my Collage Quilting workshops. Firstly, I spent a very sunny day with the lovely ladies at Montpellier Quilters on Saturday, followed by an equally sunny day back in the studio on Monday with 5 ladies. We had the added bonus of being able to sit in the garden at lunchtime and observe the very tulips that inspired this design. Well done everyone, these are really beautiful and all unique. These will be made into bags, cushions and small art quilts. www.sewforestofdean.co.uk
