Are you planning to make the most of our beautiful Northern Irish weather?

Perhaps a little camping trip… because nothing says “Holiday” quite like sitting in a tent listening to the rain.

Before you head off, check your rucksacks, holdalls and sleeping bags. A broken zip, loose strap or split seam is much easier to sort before you’re halfway up a mountain or standing in a muddy field wondering why your clothes are falling out.

Summer is over, and the school uniforms are back out of the wardrobe, but do they still fit?

Maybe the trousers are dragging on the ground, the sleeves cover their hands, or last year’s skirt now looks a bit too short.

The Ulster Museum is showing an 'Ashes to Fashion' exhibition.

It tells the remarkable story of a fashion and textile collection rebuilt after a devastating fire destroyed around 10,000 items in 1976. Tomorrow, the museum is also hosting a conversation with two of its fashion and textile curators.

It’s a timely reminder that clothing can be worth preserving.

Now, we’re not suggesting that the jacket with the broken zip hanging in your wardrobe belongs in a museum just yet… but that doesn’t mean it should be thrown away either!
