What makes us sustainable?

At 3LC we’re pretty fussy about what we supply, with t-shirts, hoodies and sweaters made predominantly from organic cotton and recycled polyester.

Why recycled polyester?

Recycled polyester, also known as rPET, offers numerous environmental benefits. By repurposing existing plastic materials, such as PET bottles, recycled polyester reduces the demand for virgin polyester, consequently lowering the dependency on petroleum, a finite and polluting resource. This process also helps in reducing plastic waste, diverting it from landfills and oceans, thus mitigating environmental pollution. Additionally, producing recycled polyester requires significantly less energy and water compared to traditional polyester, further reducing its ecological footprint. Moreover, recycled polyester retains the desirable qualities of virgin polyester, such as durability and versatility, making it a sustainable choice for eco-conscious consumers and brands aiming to minimise their environmental impact.

Why organic cotton?

Organic cotton offers significant benefits for both the environment and human health. Grown without the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilisers, it reduces soil and water contamination, promoting healthier ecosystems and biodiversity. This sustainable farming practice also conserves water through more efficient irrigation methods and maintains soil fertility through crop rotation. For farmers, organic cotton farming reduces exposure to harmful chemicals, improving their health and safety. Additionally, organic cotton products are often softer and safer for consumers, especially those with sensitive skin, as they are free from harsh chemical residues. By choosing organic cotton, consumers support sustainable agriculture and contribute to a cleaner, healthier planet.
