A little appreciation post for some of our wonderful customers this summer ☀️🫶🏻🩷

As the festival season winds down and we trade long sunny days for autumn holidays and the sparkle of the festive months, we just want to say a huge thank you 🙏🏻💛🫶🏻 Seeing Elza pieces out in the world from fields full of music to garden parties and beach days is what keeps us inspired.

Customer order 🫶🏻

We love getting back to our passion — pattern cutting. After many years working for big brands in London, replicating styles from shop bought samples to develop patterns, I still love the challenge.

This time, a customer brought me a stunning rust marocain fabric she’d had for years, along with her favourite vest top to copy.

It’s often the simplest styles that take the most care — from refining the armholes, checking the length, balancing the hem, and (in this case) finding the perfect colour binding to match for the neckline and armholes.

We’re in love with the simplicity of this one — timeless, flattering, and made to be worn for every occasion 💛

What’s your passion?

Mine isn’t so much the designing and sewing but the drafting of the pattern.
Spending time putting pencil to paper, using my pattern master, calculating measurements and creating shapes on the paper.. which then can be cut and developed into a garment. I fell in love with this side of the clothing process back at uni when I was 21. While some people cringed and would rather buy shop bought, I love the challenge of developing something from scratch and watching it come a live. Along with the problems, the not matching notches, when fabric is off the grain or the rise on trousers isn’t quite right… it’s all part of the learning process ✨

Each piece is designed, cut, and sewn by hand, with care and intention. As an independent designer, it means so much to create something from start to finish and send it off into the world to be worn and loved.

Emily borrowed the Elza outfit for a 70s fancy dress party and really sending the summer peace loving vibe! We love seeing Elza pieces styled up for all kinds of occasions, especially when they get to dance the night away ✨

The floral print is original vintage fabric and full of feel-good nostalgia — fabric from St Michael, the original Marks & Spencer’s. A true throwback classic!

Oh Hiii

Thought I’d pop on and check in.
It’s been very quiet here at Elza HQ this summer — usually our time to shine! But this year has been a little busy, a little chaotic, and full of change — all while staying positive and embracing a brand new chapter.
✨ We’ve watched a baby grow into a toddler ✨ Started a new day job to work around mum life ✨ Hosted a pop-up market (more to come — I’m working on it!) ✨ Moved house — and I’m still setting up the sewing studio ✨ Got our Lelie back after 4 months away 💛 ✨ Soaking up sunshine, friends, family and all the lovely bits in between

And of course… always working on things behind the scenes! We’ve had a mix of alterations — from trouser hems to fully lined curtains — plus custom orders like cushion covers and trousers.

And the most exciting new venture…

We’ve teamed up with the gorgeous and talented Bryer Designs 💛

Bryer has taken the Elza collection to party in a field in Brighton 🌞 I think we make a pretty good pair — tropical vibe earrings and summer-loving clothes, yes please!

Welcome to the Elza studio ✨
Where all the items get designed, cut and sewn ✨

The studio has been in need of a shake up for sometime and while I didn’t have the worry of preparing for a market, I thought I’d use this time to get started…. from organising the fabric piles and pattern folders to cleaning the walls and windows. It really is amazing what a move around can do to create a cleaner, open, more inspiring space to work in.

Elza uses only sustainable fabrics that have been sourced from suppliers in the fashion industry. Most of the material is commercial off cuts or remnants meaning each style created is exclusive, one of a kind and saved from landfills. We are currently working on sourcing a wider selection of materials such as organic and recycled so the collections can grow and more size ranges can be created.

Elza is all about love for the environment and we believe that by using reclaimed materials we’re helping slow the damage that the fast fashion industry has on this planet. We hope to inspire people to a more sustainable way of dressing.
