I’m easy like Sunday morning...💋

My Sunday feels are smooth and easy after a jam packed fam-bam fun weekend!

I’m pleased to say I shopped up a storm on Friday and truly made up for months of lock down and locked up malls! Felt soooo good, all I can say is - mama’s got her groove back 🤩

Yesterday was ‘Strawbs Saturday’ - fruit picking fun...the perfect summers day out to flaunt my newly purchased maxi dress and sun hat (I couldn’t resist THIS hat - I mean how could anyone resist THIS hat?!)

When I was a kid, my mum used to take me strawberry picking. I remember it as clearly as though it was yesterday - running through the sunshine filled fruit fields, picking the juiciest, reddest, and sweetest strawbs and cheekily gobbling them down faster than we could put them in the basket!! I always said I would introduce my kids to this simple, yet most enjoyable family experience, so they can make their own childhood memories of those stunning strawberry fields too.

Might sound silly, but it’s just a thing me and mum used to do, making me really appreciate quality family time and the happy memories of those 80‘s yesteryear summers! So now, each year I make a trip to the fruit farm and we fill up on not just strawbs, cherries and whatever’s ripe for the picking, but on the beautiful memory making moments - so kids will hopefully look back on it as fondly as I still do in years to come.

Do you have any childhood memories you re-create for your kids or even grandkids for their memory banks??

Meanwhile, those big, fat, red strawbs are calling - here we go...with pancakes for brekkie methinks and probably smothered in Baileys cream later, think a nice rummy fruit punch will also do the trick, soooo getting my strawberry game on today - ooooh yes!

Happy Sunday lovelies 🍓🍓🍓

Don’t be afraid to stand out...be your boldest brightest self 💚

One way to do this is by wearing Neon! Neons are one of the most misunderstood colours, as many really struggle with incorporating it into their everyday looks. I think it’s actually quite a versatile trend that exudes confidence, demands attention and takes an outfit to ‘hell yeah’! Neons are perfect for anyone with a bright personality who likes to play with fashion, take risks and create eye-catching looks...could that be you?

I know I felt incredibly vibrant and invigorated in this neon vest top, when out on a social distancing trip to the stunning Kent coast yesterday (the first since lockdown’s eased👍🏽) and will be a firm go-to for me this summer -whether that be coast bound or more house bound!

Inspired to give neon a go? Here’s 3 tips:

1. Balance it - diffuse neon by teaming it with a darker colour such as khaki or black.
2. Hint of it - downplay it by just wearing a bag, shoe or hair accessory to inject a small shot of neon to your look
3. Layer it - add a darker blazer/cardigan/jacket over it so the neon is slightly concealed and creates a strong contrast

That being said - If it doesn’t work with your personal colouring ...do not try this at home and stay the hell away😂(I can assess your personal colours online for alternatives, if interested 😉)

Do you own any neon pieces and are you brave enough to give them a go after reading this?? Lemme know 🙌🏽

Happy Thursday 💚💚💚

Do we have an image obsessed culture?

Magazines, TV and of course social media bombard us with images of fabulously dressed women with perfect make-up, great hair and amazing figures.

This has been the case forever and a day - nothing new there. The world of celebrity, influencers and bloggers have raised the bar in terms of what women look like and it’s created an unrealistic benchmark that women measure themselves against.

Real women can feel inadequate with low levels of self-esteem at the best of times and then when ‘comparison-itus’ sets in, so can the disappointment of never quite acquiring the ‘right’ look or having the ‘perfect’ body.

Do you know how I deal with this? Well, I don’t invest in the lashes thing, no hair extensions or lip fillers etc - although my nails are my guilty pleasure!

Simply put, I make the best of what my mama gave me! Yup! It helps that I love make-up and experiment with colours and products to get the looks I want. It also helps that I have a fab hairdresser (big up )who gives me the best cuts for my hair-type. I love food, cocktails and deserts - and don’t do enough exercise but do know how to dress to hide my increasing lockdown lumps and bumps! 😂 I have a belly, hips that p*e me off, not enough of JLO’s bum and cellulite- but what can I say, I just love rocking me!

We do have an image obsessed culture and it’s up to us to decide how much we play into it. If you’re quite visual, you probably have more buy in. It’s then up to you to identify the reasons why it matters so much. Do you have a healthy image outlook? Do you dress and invest in treatments to feel empowered, impactful and present, only enhancing what your mama gave you - or do it for something else?

If you really want to be clearly seen, then look like the person you really are on the inside! Be in control of presenting the image that’s right for you, not set by anyone else’s standard. Also NEVER EVER compare the rockstar that is you - with anyone else, especially from the media world! You’re setting yourself up for guaranteed disaster taking that road.

BOOM...My Monday message! 🙌🏽
Have a think about this and a great day 🤩

Everyone’s at it during lockdown...(no not that...well, maybe😂), I’m talking about wardrobe detoxing and decluttering😉

I always tell clients to look after and cherish all their clothes the same way. Whether it comes from Prada or Primark, it deserves a decent hanger! Yep - talking hangers today!! Keep reading, a few invaluable tips coming up...

If you want to ruin your clothes, waste all that precious time and money you’ve spent...go ahead and keep them on wire hangers (the ones you get from dry cleaners - you know the ones we used to angle at the back of TVs in the old days as an aerial when there was poor picture quality on our 4 channels!😂 ). If you’re using these, you’ll notice knitted or jersey items developing damaging ‘shoulder wings’ while coats and jackets become mis-shaped hunchbacks! The plastic shop ones are a tiny bit better - but not much.

Seriously - hanger’s are soooo understated! Simple but yet super effective to keep your prized clothing investments in tip top condition in the wardrobe. .

Here’s my top 3 tips for hanging:
1. Jersey, silk, chiffon and delicates put on padded satin hangers
2. coats and jackets should be hung on hangers with wide, shaped shoulders
3. Skirts should be put on hangers with padded clips (to stop those bite marks on your skirts!) .

You know it makes sense, so invest in quality hangers, have a thorough clear out, store away out-of-season clothes (winter woolies can be packed away now👌🏽) and re-hang your most worn and loved spring summer pieces on hangers that look good in the wardrobe and look good on you when off the hangers!

Look after your clothes and they’ll always make you look good!

Happy Humpday (again! It comes round so quick these days!)

Tip Tuesday...🤩

Many of us are lucky enough to still be able to work at home right now. It’s so easy to feel a little ugly, kinda boring and drab looking when stuck behind the laptop at home, day in and day out! I bet if you usually wear contact lenses to work, you’re not doing that anymore and wear your glasses pretty much all the time too (which is a great thing to let your eyes breathe, so keep your glasses on and lenses out!)

I have online meetings etc but some days I just don’t want to wear big pops of colour or prints or even my contact lenses (shock/horror!). So to break out of my ugly feeling days, but still look effortless, groomed and presentable online, I might grab for the ‘black’ (just occasionally), but the stylist in me won’t let me go down like that - and I’ll throw on some fab accessories and a red lip! Instant transformation😉

Accessories are the icing on the style cake and a fun, chunky necklace or your favourite scarf with your fave lip colour will make a massive impact on both your mood and others’ perception of you (from the other side of the screen!) This shows off the fact that you know how to play, and will feel super fresh in your basics, whilst adding a chic twist to working at home.

So today’s cheeky chic challenge is to put on some oversized jewellery over your basic wardrobe staples to completely alter your look in a matter of moments. Watch your confidence soar when the compliments start coming in from online colleagues, clients, and connections (and even those you live with!) - because let’s face it, who doesn’t need a nice little boost right now😉

Let me know if you’re already doing this or will give it a go and how it makes you feel 😉👌🏽

“Beauty is perfect in its imperfections, so you just have to go with the imperfections” Diane Von Furstenberg, DVF

So many of us try and fail to gain that elusive notion of ‘perfection’ - whatever that is - and in the struggle, we lose our true authenticity and the deep down truth of what is, just is.

So how about you look in the mirror, accept your flaws, be kind and gentle on yourself and see all that is imperfect with love and appreciation! After all you’re unique and no one can rock you, like YOU!! The more imperfect, the more unique and bloody phenomenal you are! This is the number one lesson I’m honestly still learning, but always teaching. There’s so much value in really getting this.

I say there’s no such thing as perfection - but I sort of lie, as the exception to this, is this divine wrap dress from iconic designer DVF - Diane von Furstenberg - equal parts effortless and chic!! It’s absolute perfection in my opinion, in terms of the colours and print, design, fit and quality silk material - there’s no better investment piece for a year round wardrobe for work to home to holiday!

So rather than focusing on imperfection and how imperfect life feels right now, how about having a rumble through your wardrobe and pull on one of your best dresses or even a jumpsuit to adorn you at home, whilst floating around the BBQ by day (with a fruity rum punch in hand and bejewelled flip flops - in my case) or preparing to enjoy a nice sit down dinner with your significant other - adding heels and red lippy, by night - Perfecto 😉

Why not nail some great looks at home, with your best wardrobe items and really show off all that imperfect beauty you have on offer...Just do it already! 👌🏽

Happy hump day! 🐪

Having more spare time on your hands, feeling bored, wanting to upgrade your wardrobe but can’t go to the mall means only one thing - online shopping!

Prior to lockdown, internet shopping was a massive thing, during lockdown - not so much (not essential!) but we’re not keeping away from our virtual stores, and when we order - are we making the right purchases?

Don’t be fooled...Online shopping is difficult to get right and unless you know exactly what and where to go, it can result in hours of wasted time! It may seem fun surfing around - adding random items costing a small fortune into your basket - but when you look up from your screen and you’ve lost precious hours not really achieving anything (and you decide NOT to proceed to pay after lots of browsing) you’ve just wasted big time. No joke!

It’s an easy and quick way of having the shops at the click of a button and is even more in demand now to fill the time and buy whatever, whenever. Thing is, if you don’t know what you want, and/or exactly where to find it, it can be overwhelming with so much choice. As I say, real hours from your precious existence can be wasted trawling online sites - when you don’t have a plan and not clear on exactly what’s needed.

Typically people order items that don’t fit or don’t look as good as the online images when tried on. So more time wasting, and have the hassle of returning items too! Apparently two thirds of women that buy clothes online, end up returning it! Are you in that category?

If you’re going to be a savvy online shopper in the future, it makes sense to understand your personal colours, body shape, style personality and the brands and sites to suit you...Kapich😉

Need help with this...give me a shout - I can’t bear to know you’re online shopping your life away with poor results!

Have a beautiful day 👌🏽

Friday feels

Do you agree that what you wear affects how you feel?

Clients tell me they get in touch about my services because of the regular wardrobe dilemmas they face...BUT, when we have our in depth style coaching session, I find out that there’s something deeper going on and part of that is about the way their clothes make them feel which is really important. Getting the clothes right in order to feel confident, beautiful and great about yourself, matters.

Your clothes are a representation of your inner self, motivations and feelings - so when you feel good, you wear clothes that make you feel good, when you feel bad - guess what, you’re probably going to have a bad outfit day, not feeling good in it at all!

A study found that women who are sad or depressed, wore baggy tops, jeans and sweatshirts/baggy jumpers as their top 3 goto’s. The top 3 clothes worn when feeling good was well cut, figure enhancing and brightly coloured - surprise surprise!

Many women can change their mood by simply changing what they wear! Clothes do have a profound psychological effect on us and our daily wardrobe choices can significantly impact feelings, moods, state of mind and ultimately contribute to our overall happiness levels.

So in the environment we’re currently living in, its all the more important to take care of yourself, accept yourself (lumps, bumps and all), and wear clothes at home that you feel good in - not the old, dull, out of style and shapeless items that you’re just ‘making do’ with, because you can’t be bothered and don’t care. Start to care and put on those fun prints, wear the bright colours, and enjoy feeling good in your clothes and in yourself.

So who’s got the Friday Feels today...can I get an Oh YEAH!! Dress with feeling, and see how good you start to feel - almost immediately! (No alcohol, happy pills or lottery wins required!!)

Happy Friday ❤️

I can’t believe it’s been like a month since the UK’s been on lockdown and our lives have been thrown upside down 🙃

Whether you were previously in a demanding day job, a business owner handling your own livelihood, a full time parent, or you are currently dealing with straight-up lockdown - doesn’t time pass so flipping quickly!

Everyone’s saying this is the time to slow your row and reflect, reflect, reflect - BUT are you?

Have you reflected on who you’ve become up to now (whether before or during lockdown), what’s most important to you and what your goals are? .

If you don’t do the head-work, especially now you have more time to remind yourself who you are and what you stand for, what you want from life and how you’re gonna get it - how on earth do you think you’ll be able to work towards or achieve any goals. Ultimately, how will you ever appreciate how you’ve been presenting yourself to the world and whether you’re really reflecting the formidable human that YOU are.

The shrewd business owner, the savvy corporate worker, the ambitious job seeker all have things in common - they value dressing well in a style that suits, reflects confidence, authenticity and presence. Boom!

So whilst having such an extended and currently indefinite period of downtime on your hands - how about getting to the core of where you are and what you need to change to be where you want to be, when new opportunities meets this critical period of preparation time you’ve had.

Time waits for no-one and we’ll be back into the groove of our lives - just like that. So whilst isolated and locked-down, have you just sat and thought about your priorities? Could one of them be about transforming your image so you’re looking and feeling more empowered and present for your new, successful post-lockdown life??

Don’t waste the day, seize it by going in and making key decisions about the future you

Happy Monday ❤️
