No lazy lie-ins for me this weekend. It's our 20th Century pop-up at Maple Farm, this Friday - Sunday, rather deliciously right opposite PINCH SUFFOLK .

Please note it's an early start and an early finish: 9.30am -3pm each day.

Part of our MCM Edit, this signed 1960s French abstract painting on canvas captures everything we love about mid-century art: architectural forms, soft neutral tones and a sense of quiet intrigue.

A piece that feels as relevant today as it did over half a century ago.

We are continually sourcing our collection of furniture, lighting, art and objects that have stood the test of time. Pieces chosen not because they follow trends, but because they have survived them.

Philadelphia Story

This 1950s modernist brass lamp was produced by Carl Falkenstein, one of America's most respected lighting manufacturers of the mid-century period.

Based in Philadelphia, Falkenstein built a reputation from the 1940s through to the 1960s for exceptionally well-made lamps that blended traditional craftsmanship with the clean, modern lines emerging in post-war design.

This example captures that balance — sculptural, architectural and elegant, with a solid brass construction that has developed a rich patina over the decades.

With its original Falkenstein stamp, a reassuring sign of its provenance.

Professionally rewired, PAT tested and ready for another generation of use.

Price: £180, shade not included
H: 36cm (without shade)
Base width: 15cm

We're proud of our sustainably sourced ethos. Long before "buying responsibly" became fashionable, pieces like this were built to last a lifetime.

Seventy years on, it's still doing its job beautifully.

British summer: one minute, it's drinks in the garden, the next you're admiring rainbows.

Fortunately, some things work just as well indoors.

Our 1960s Gladlynn Ware modernist teak planter, paired with a Monstera, brings a little of the outside in, while the weather makes up its mind.

Summer shopping for realists.

Describe EastLane: it's much more than just mid-century. It's about my personal love of a restrained, neutral palette combined with functional modernist design.

Line and form, scale are all important. Throw in a brutalist sculpture or two.

And a collection. I absolutely adore a collection. And those who know me, know I collect white West German ceramics, in a manner that borders on hoarding. Here's our latest find.

Nathan furniture was established in 1916 by Barnett Nathan. His vision was to design beautiful, elegant furniture, offering quality and value. In 1963, Nathan went Scandinavian.

Their advertisements proclaimed 'Scandinavian Design By Nathan'. Nathan's first range of teak furniture was called 'Citadel'.

Nathan introduced several other modern, Scandinavian inspired, designs in teak. All began with the letter "C": Corsican, Corinthian and Cortina.

In the late 60s, Nathan moved further upmarket. Many manufacturers were making teak furniture, so designs needed to be original. They introduced several new designs which continued into the early 70s.

Nathan then took a different course, with their furniture of the 70s acquiring a more traditional look.

Structurally sound, in nice condition with, as you'd expect, some signs of age and use.

Amazing. Did you hear? We're popping up at PINCH in three weeks time. More on that next week....

In the meantime, we now have three of the Frantisek Vizner Maze vases in stock. They look amazing together in a line. But two are in the shop and one is at home, so I'll have to take that photo another time.

1960's Sklo Union 'Maze' vase, pattern number 20082, designed by Frantisek Vizner for Hermanova Hut, Czechia in 1965

Vizner (1936-2011) is represented in the most prominent museum collections around thecworld: Museum of Applied Art and Craft in Prague, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris, The Corning Museum of Glass and many others.

A unique piece of artist history.

Covered in paint splatters from a celebrated painter’s studio, every mark tells part of its story.

1950’s Model 391 stick back chair by Ercol, designed by Lucian Ercolani.
Solid English elm and beech, beautifully worn by time and completely one of a kind.

Perfectly imperfect. The sort of patina you simply cannot fake and absolutely should never restore. There is no other chair quite like this in the whole wide world.

Minimalist perfection from the master of Finnish design.

Designed in 1967, the Pearl Drop porcelain vase by Tapio Wirkkala for Rosenthal Studio-Line captures everything that made Wirkkala one of the defining creative voices of the 20th century:

• restraint
• texture
• light and form

Price: £110
H: 12.5cm

The relief of raised gives this piece an architectural quality, while the matte white finish keeps it timelessly Scandinavian.

Wirkkala’s work sits alongside the greats of post-war Nordic modernism, and his designs for Rosenthal have become increasingly sought-after by collectors worldwide.

Pieces like this rarely stay around for long, especially in such clean condition with original box.

Sustainably sourced always
