THE NAME - 3RD ROCK

Our planet is the 3rd 'rock' away from the Sun and it’s also our amazing and beautiful playground. The name 3rd Rock symbolises the great outdoors, the fun that can be had there, getting dirty, playing hard and freedom. It also symbolises the fragility of our planet and the need for us to be considerate and leave no trace. THE ETHOS - 'Our Planet, Our Playground'

I studied at St Martins then worked in the London fashion industry for several years. I made my fair share of evening gowns and other dramatic clothing items, which were bought by ridiculously rich people who wore them twice then never again. I want to make things that are of use;
things that are worn over and over again until they are dead. I want to make things that last, that fulfil our needs, that are beautiful and that people love. After quitting the London fashion industry I went traveling to ‘find myself’. Along the way I found rock climbing. Being outside in a beautiful location, getting dirty, scaling some impressive rock face with the company of my friends, I felt free. I felt like me. All the pieces fitted together. I started making things that fulfilled my needs and my friend’s needs, so that we could feel really comfortable and confident, being who we love to be, where we love to be. I wanted the clothing to have a purpose and to be carefully considered so not to harm the world we love so much. The main thing I get satisfaction from now is in knowing that my clothing is great. I know this because I live in it. I product-test it. I challenge it until I believe in it completely. This is what I do. I’m the designer, the founder and the end user. Welcome to our world.
