Another day, another coat zip, this time a detachable sleeve zip, sounds simple and I wish it had been, it was quite a feat of engineering, but every day is a school day so putting this one down as a strong learning curve. Persistence pays off, so happy with final result and this very expensive coat has a new lease of life!

Darning, it takes practice but the results are quite pleasing. A few stitches can rescue a garment destined for the bin! In this case a wool jacket and a merino wool jumper both of which had been literally moth eaten!

There was plenty of life left in this jacket but the zip was broken. 😢 New zip, new lease of life for this old favourite...

A Roman-blind with a difference. This beautiful Orla Kiely fabric was a pleasure to work with. So how different? The blind is held together by magnets! Yes, magnets! My customer did not want to drill their new tiles so the blind hangs on a tension rod. I think it looks amazing!

As well as working on wedding and bridesmaids dresses I do all kinds of alterations and repairs. This Craghoppers jacket cost my client over £100, it’s less than a year old and the zip broke. I have replaced with a longer lasting metal zip. Total cost £25. Much cheaper than a new jacket.
Oh and not forgetting I also help out very large dogs and tiny rabbits 🐶🐰

Wedding Season is almost upon us so I thought I would share with you a couple of dresses I worked on last year. Apart from the alterations to make them fit beautifully I also created a bustle so the brides could move about later in the day without a long train trailing behind them. I hope you like them, I know the brides were really pleased. If you would like something similar or any alterations please get in touch.
