We’re excited to be joining THREADS Textile Festival this weekend at Sunny Bank Mills, Leeds 🧵✨

Over the two days we’ll be bringing along a beautiful selection of Fabworks favourites including British woollens, dressmaking fabrics, natural fibres and inspiring cloths perfect for sewing, tailoring, crafting and creative projects.

Whether you’re searching for your next special fabric, planning an autumn wardrobe, or simply love being surrounded by textiles and creativity, we’d absolutely love to see you there ❤️

Anna, one of the friendly faces of Fabworks Mill Shop, documented her process of making a wool bomber jacket for winter. Here’s how it turned out!

“October is when we definitely feel the turning of the season. The nights are drawing in. It’s getting chilly. What better way to keep warm than make a jacket with our fabulous October Fabric of the Month – Pumpkin Wool Jacquard Woodland Fables ?
So, I did just that. I made a bomber jacket!
This wonderful wool is easy to cut and sew, just whack those seams with a hammer (into anything you want!)
This is the Amelia Bomber Jacket by . I wanted a pattern that wasn’t oversized, they always make me feel large!
I lined the jacket with some super soft cotton for a luxury feel.
A couple of tips that I’d recommend: Use a Jeans/Denim needle. I struggled with the bulky seams until I switched. I used a clapper on every seam, and this helped a lot - then my colleague suggested using a hammer to flatten it and that was a game changer. Hammering the fabric loosens the bonds of the thread so they lie flat making even the largest seam surmountable.
And I’m so pleased with the result!”
