JG Kokeshi Hand Painted Bespoke Kokeshi Dolls Kokeshi Dolls are a simple wooden Japanese doll with no arms and legs.

They originated from the Tohoku region of Northern Japan about 150 years ago as a toy for children. It is thought they might have represented the wish for a healthy child or to bring good luck. They are beautiful hand painted dolls which are as popular in today’s technological society as they have always been, with people wishing to return to simpler play and natural resources.
