🧵 Harmonic Weave – MA Collection Development 🧵
This collection reclaims the history of Indo-Western fashion, asserting it as a complex genre born from colonial influence, not a fleeting trend. Driven by my British heritage and my partners Indian culture, this MA project deepens my previous BA work, expanding to include menswear and fusing history with hope.
• Motifs: Fusing the British Rose with the Indian Lotus.
• Craft: Directly reclaiming exploited artistry—celebrating Hand-Block Printing, Khadi Hand-Weaving, and Natural Indigo Dyeing. This showcases the endurance of Indian artisans.
• Sustainability: Traditional crafts balanced with high-quality deadstock post-colonial fabrics (suiting, satin, tulle).
• Colour Palette: Deep Indigo (Exploited crop), Aged Crimson (Imperial Power), Amber Haze (British Colonial Wealth) balanced with Transformative Teal (Harmonious Future)
This is more than clothing - it is a balanced, post-colonial dialogue in fabric.
