Today at Vintage on the Nith: a wee reminder we are not open again until Friday.

In the meantime: an exquisite art deco porcelain greyhound designed for Royal Dux (Czechoslovakia) by Jaroslav Jezek in 1990.

This is the third time I have bought a Royal Dux animal and each of them have featured the most exquisite modelling and here, in this one, the lithe and graceful motion of a greyhound at full tilt. 25cm long and 12 cm high.

In the meantime: we have this stunning chair by classic mid century Danish firm Drylund. This is their executive office chair, designed in the 1980s, but equally at home in a domestic setting. In gorgeous rosewood and green leather. Scandinavian comfort, quality and style. £195. Just think what you could get for that brand new.

Netsuke are small hand carved objects that originated in Japan in the 17th century. They are ornamental devices that attach to a cord for the purpose of holding another object to an obi or belt. Over time they have developed into a highly coveted and collectible art form given their exquisite craftsmanship and beauty. They depict a host of subjects from the natural world, gods, religious symbols and erotic couplings.
