La Robe à Caro

La Robe à Caro Making the world a cleaner place... One upcycled garment at a time! Caroline Nelson is a French fashion designer living on the seaside of Scotland.

She recently graduated from Jacqui Burke fashion school (where she designed outfits to be showcased at the Scottish Airshow) and is the owner of the stylish clothing brand La Robe à Caro. Vintage lover and flea market addict since her teenage years, she owns more than 100 sewing patterns from the 50s and the 60s. Textile must be in her genes as she recalls growing up hearing stories of her great-g

rand parents traveling out of Europe to buy supplies for their fabric shop in Paris during la Belle Époque. After living half-way around the globe, Caroline now works in glamourous Edinburgh, where she collaborated, amongst others, with burlesque artists, Pinup models, Retro beauty salon, patisserie shop, and appeared in BBC Alba TV program and Vintage life magazine. Her newfound love [nu:zd] is about upcycling and turning items of clothing destined to be thrown-away into beautiful garments. Thank You for Celebrating Scotland’s Share & Repair Volunteers!

As our campaign comes to a close, we want to extend a heartfelt thankyou to every volunteer, organisation, and supporter who took part.

For our final Member Spotlight we're celebrating Caroline from Fixing for a Future’s Repair Café whose passion for textile repair is inspiring new confidence and creativity in her community.

In her own words:
“In addition to making great new friends and skills I learned from them, I have to say that there’s a selfish pride of saying out loud ‘I’m helping save the planet by teaching people how to fix their clothes!’”

Caroline’s enthusiasm reflects the heart of our campaign - empowering others while helping protect the planet through simple, practical action.

Thanks to our members & supporters for your stories, photos, and posts which have highlighted the incredible impact of sharing and repairing across Scotland. Together, you’ve shown how community‑led action can reduce waste, build skills, and inspire others to take part in a more sustainable future.

If you missed anything, you can still explore the full campaign article and continue sharing your experiences.

Just realised is probably one of the person that inspired the most fashion wise. Always soooo amazingly elegant and stylish (without all the weird fuss that fashion brings). Thank you, thank you, thank you, can’t wait to see you tonight (purple dress , jouy one , leopard galaxy vogue pattern)

My big dressmaker party is this Saturday and I’m determined not to be sewing on Saturday morning 😅
I’ve been inspired by Vivienne Westwood’s inner corselet type and gave it a try to having a zipped corset. It’s linked at the side back panels and there’s also a waist stay (although the fabric is way lighter than when I did the or !). Anyway, it works, I’m happy. Tomorrow sleeves, understitch and hem! Hope you like it!

Main fabric secret for now…

Any MadMen show fans? When designing the new outfits for we wanted something modern but I couldn’t resist adding a splash of vintage elegance. Full skirts deserves beautiful cinched waist and nothing could work more than gathered sash. They look so pretty on this year’s court, I can wait for you to see the full outfit! See you Saturday morning at Dunbar’s pool for the start of the parade 🩵💛
Now… what shall I wear??
