Became really frustrated with a drawing I was working on so did a doodle instead in conte pastels. By the time my sketch was finished my mood was so much better- art can really relax you or it can really stress you out. I then experimented with camera angles which also was fun to do and gave me a couple of options. Guess the thing to do is don’t force it- go with the flow!

Yesterday I drove from Crieff to Derby and back again. What struck me was how breathtaking the scenery was as I drove through Beatock, Shap, Peak District and of course the amazing landscape as I re-entered Scotland. The sun shone, it brought everything to life and increased the sense of Drama. It made me think about how lucky we are to have access to the great outdoors. In response, I drew this pastel sketch of the Sma Glen, a journey I made daily when I worked in Aberfeldy at the high School there. I always feel at home here, even though I am a born and bred Glaswegian!

Life in Perthshire. Recently I have really begun to take notice of where I live, Perthshire is really an extraordinary location. A couple of weeks ago, I went for a drive along the Sma Glen which sits above Crieff en route to Aberfeldy. The local estate managers were burning the heather and the clouds of smoke created dramatic forms against the rugged hillsides and the clear blue sky. I am landing to record more of my daily Perthshire experiences over the next wee while because this is a really amazing place to live. I also used and they were a delight to use. Takes me back to my youth!

What I found today on my travels….. a pair of Queen Elizabeth Sterling Silver goblets created by the Yorkshire Mint to commemorate the Silver Jubilee in 1977. I have polished them up a bit, which is a really satisfying thing to do- must be the jeweller in me! Not really sure what to do with them now….. I cannot see them fitting in with my mid century fixtures and fittings.

I wasn’t looking for this but loved it the minute I saw it folded into a small rectangle amongst the embroidered tablecloths.Amazing style, very in its detail. Found this one in a local store.
