Sewing Tuition in Dundee! At Sew Confident Dundee we teach a comprehensive range of sewing classes for all abilities. We also consume quite a lot of tea!

Classes are structured and designed to build confidence and teach all the necessary sewing skills in bite size session. We pride ourselves on providing fun, friendly learning environments with a big emphasis on the social side. We also sell Elna and Janome sewing machines, fabrics, patterns and other sewing supplies. What on earth is English Paper Piecing… and why do so many people become completely obsessed with it? 🧵✨

It’s a wonderfully addictive form of hand sewing where you wrap fabric around paper shapes and stitch them together to create beautiful patchwork. The most famous shape is the hexagon, but once you start, there’s a whole world of possibilities!

The best bit? You can do it almost anywhere. On the sofa, in the garden, on holiday, with a cuppa in hand… it’s slow stitching at its finest and ridiculously satisfying.

Sandra recently taught EPP to a tour group of 35 quilters and came away convinced that Dundee needed a bit more hexie happiness.

So, we’re bringing it back!

Honestly, we think it's because it's got a bit of everything. 😊

Our Quilted Zip Pouch class is the one people love to book on repeat. In just one evening you'll have a go at patchwork, tackle a zip (they're not as scary as they look!), enjoy a few hours of creative sewing, and head home with a gorgeous wee bag you'll actually use.

The best part? We do all the faffing about beforehand. All your fabrics, wadding, zip and supplies are cut, prepped and ready for you when you arrive. Just turn up and sew!

One thing we hear all the time in our Beginners Sewing Class is: “I just want to be able to alter my own clothes!”

Whether it’s shortening trousers that seem to have been made for a giraffe, taking in a favourite dress for a better fit, adding darts to create shape, or finally giving a pocket-less garment the pockets it deserves, alterations are one of the most useful sewing skills you can learn.

This Wednesday, 3rd June 6.30-9pm, Laura’s Alterations Class will show you how to tackle those everyday clothing fixes with confidence. From hemming and reshaping garments to simple fit adjustments, you’ll learn practical techniques you can use again and again.
