Sorry... we're not quite back yet. It really doesn't feel like the time is right yet. The state of the world appears even more difficult for small businesses to operate in. In some respects we're glad we took the break exactly when we did. The energy costs of running the workshop were already ridiculous and brexit had made a farce of sending anything abroad.

Anyway, we have been doing a clearout and found we still have a few of our incredible Donegal beanies, fingerless gloves, cashmere blend bits, a few Fairisle Scarves and of course our wool socks which went down a storm with our customers.

There's limited numbers as these are the last ever of their kind. The same high quality you have always expected and that we have always delivered. The stock on the website should be correct and the prices discounted.

One day when the world looks a little less bleak we'll think about firing up the machines once again.

This year though, if you can afford to support the independent brands still scraping a living, please do.

We first hand know how hard it is, and support no matter how small is the light at the end of the tunnel.

Keep warm out there y'all, let's hope its not by nuclear fallout. 😔

Hats off. Our Tweed Packable cap in 'Lizard' colourway headed out with the orders today. A very versatile piece that benefits from all the natural properties of wool (water resistant, naturally anti-bacterial, sustainable, warming in the cold, cooling in the heat) yada yada yada... you get the point. It's a cool hat. This week we're wrapping everything up at the workshop, what a thought. 🥴

Golden wonder. Button down shirt, constructed from a soft 11 wale, 100% cotton corduroy cloth. Featuring engraved mother of pearl buttons, two chest patch and flap pockets, a curved hem with adjustable cuffs, back box pleat with laundry tab and HAAR branding on side seam. 😯💨

Want to say thanks to everyone who put orders in upon hearing our announcement at the weekend. Genuinely touched by all the positivity and kind words we've recieved from our customers and followers, friends and strangers. Thank you so much. We have now stopped taking any more orders on all of our 'Made to order' items as we wouldn't be able to get them out in time for our shutdown on the 10th. Thank you so much for the support. I am determined to return in the future in a way that doesn't undermine everything we built, but makes more sense as a business... 🙏🤝🤙

By this point we're just here showing off the last of the orders before our indefinite break. First up, this understated navy smock constructed from hybrid waxed cotton from in Dundee. For this iteration the customer chose to include an additional drawcord at the hem. The smock features a high stanced hood with peak for increased protection. Raglan sleeve construction, side entry 'Kangaroo' pocket at chest, and two large lower gusseted bellow pockets. Finished with a metal zipper closure with nice long pullers.✌

Our wonderful Stockist Kazuto Goto of has a hidden gem of a store located in Chiba, Japan. Onkochishin carries a great selection of HAAR pieces in his excellently curated store. There is an emphasis on menswear of which many British brands new and well-established can be discovered as well as rarities and vintage Militaria and Utilitarian finds. I never got the chance to visit in person with all the problems in the world, but when I eventually get the chance to go to Japan (somewhere that's always been on the top of the list of places to travel to) I will be sure to pay Onkochishin a visit. Pt.1 - There’s something we wanted you to know… We’re taking a break.

Hello Followers, Fans, Customers, Friends and Family,
 
It is with deep regret we have decided to take a break from HAAR.

It really has been a wild ride with many ups and downs. After 6 years of working on HAAR in one capacity or another (be that during the evenings and weekends when we were working full-time at the day-jobs or more latterly when I (Darren) have been able to work full-time on the business), we have now decided this is the time to stop and assess what we’re doing and how we do it.

We are so proud of everything we achieved. I will never regret taking that leap of faith and going for it. Some people live their lives never stepping out of their comfort zone, or criticising those that do. I feel sorry for those people.

I have learnt so much. Not just about this industry, but every aspect of running a business, developing a Brand, Marketing, Strategy, Finances, and that’s before I mention designing garments, sourcing fabrics, and understanding the intrinsic details that make up a garment which I believe to this point, made HAAR so special. 

If I was to criticise anything we did, It may sound counter-intuitive, but I believe we perhaps held ourselves to too much accountability (Hear me out). We wanted to do everything perfectly from the off. We were a small brand with huge ambitions, perhaps delusions of grandeur, to improve on everything we saw wrong with other fashion brands. While it is a bold and admirable endeavour, the truth is, that the world doesn’t reward this way of working, trying to be the best cat everything sets you up for failure. Many successful brands highlight what they do well and that which will give them Kudos, but fail to mention the not so admirable qualities of their operations. HAAR was different.
