I've been a little quiet lately and that's because behind the scenes amazing things have been happening.

After submitting a proposal to the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) to continue my training towards becoming a Side Saddle Maker, I'm very excited to say that I have been awarded the Garfield Weston Emerging Maker scholarship.

This scholarship will allow me to continue my training with Master Saddler Rob Jenkins and undertake training at Salisbury Leather Skills Center to progress towards becoming a qualified saddle maker.

Throughout my training and further develop of the craft, I will blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary innovations, improving both function and comfort for modern horses and riders.

I am very grateful for this amazing opportunity and I can't wait to share my progress with you all.

I can't believe the two week side saddle making course went by so quickly, but I loved every minute of it and not only have I gained so many new skills, but I made something that I will cherish forever.

All of this was made possible by .sidesaddles and his amazing tuition and for the inspiring location.

I can't wait to get started on another side saddle in the very near future to keep this endangered heritage craft alive.

For two weeks the will be my home while I attend .sidesaddles side saddle making workshop.

I can't say how privileged I am to be attending this course and having one to one tuition from a true side saddle master craftsman.

I will be posting daily stories on the progress of the saddle and I really can't wait to see the end result.
