In the wake of Xile's liquidation, our founder Paul Mullen recognized an opportunity for a fresh start and a new sanctuary. Thus, PARA-DAIZA was born with a new purpose: to create high-quality products with lasting value, blending inspiration from the past with innovative ideas. The brand name itself, PARA-DAIZA, holds profound meaning, rooted in ancient history with the Proto-Indo-Iranian term "paradaiza," signifying "around" (pari-) and "walls" (daiza). The mission of PARA-DAIZA is to craft exceptional products that stand the test of time. With a focus on sustainability, the collection will incorporate garments made in the UK whenever possible, showcasing a unique design style. Recognizing the textile industry's environmental impact, PARA-DAIZA has committed to addressing this issue through its Re-Purposed collection. This collection breathes new life into vintage second-hand goods, transforming them into exclusive, one-of-a-kind garments. By reducing and recycling, PARA-DAIZA aims to salvage unwanted goods from landfills and give them a new purpose, contributing to a sustainable cycle and promoting a conscious approach to fashion. The founder's latest venture, Daiza Projects, is working on a Multiband Retail concept – a retail hub that aims to redefine the shopping experience. The brand envisions a place where the community works to shop, connect, discover, and learn. This versatile space will include a retail offer and a café and design studio, serving as a collaborative haven for creatives and startups.

A closer look at the Atelier Worker Jacket in Khaki.

We’ve always loved a good worker jacket. It’s one of those pieces that gets better the more you wear it, and this one has all the little details that make it feel distinctly PARADAIZA.

From the subtle stitching and pocket detailing to the relaxed fit, we’ve tried to put our own spin on a classic without losing what makes it so good in the first place.

The khaki colour works with pretty much anything too. A great piece for layering as we head into the colder months.

One thing that became pretty clear during our third birthday celebrations was just how much Xile meant to the people who were part of it.

We had Sof, Darren and Pat’s daughter Erin through the shop to share a few memories. From Sof nearly setting a bar on fire with a flaming sambuca, to Darren turning up for his first shift in a sleeveless hoodie and Diesel jeans. 😂

Everyone has their own stories. Different faces, different eras and plenty of moments that probably shouldn’t be repeated.
But when we asked what comes to mind when they think of Xile, they all said the same thing.

Family.

And that’s what made it special. For all the years, the characters and the madness, it was always about the people.

Lovely to have everyone back together, remembering the good times and celebrating three years of PARADAIZA. ❤️

First look at the Atelier Sashiko Shirt in navy. 🧵

Michael wore this last week and absolutely rocked it, so here’s a closer look at some of the detail.

Following on from the natural white version, this one carries the same idea into a darker, moodier finish. Organic cotton, garment dyed, then hand-finished in Edinburgh using reclaimed fabrics and sashiko-inspired stitching.

Each one has its own details, marks and character.

We know the nice weather is pretty much gone, but a good going out shirt is required all year round.

The Skip Collar Knitted Polo is one of those easy pieces. Smart enough to wear out, relaxed enough that it doesn’t feel like you’ve tried too hard.

Soft cotton knit, open collar, clean vertical texture, and a fit that works on its own or under a jacket when the temperature drops.

Because let’s be honest, you never really know what the day is going to throw at you.

Denim shirt underneath, Fisherman Knit over the top, scarf to finish it off.

Simple pieces, good texture, and enough warmth without feeling like you’ve overdone it.

Good day in the shop. 😎

Michael came by, originally from California, moved to Scotland 17 years ago, and has ended up with one of the best wardrobes in Stockbridge.

Proper style. Totally his own. No overthinking, just knows how to wear things.
He works at a local hotel as well, so I can only imagine he’s adding a bit of magic to everyone’s stay while he’s at it. 👊🏻

We also had .b_habibi (Aymen) in for his first day at the shop. Xile original, music producer, good chat, and straight in amongst it.

Bit late with this one, but September was a big month for us.

Our third birthday, plenty of old friends back through the door, a few good laughs, a lot of memories, and some exciting new pieces starting to land in the shop.
