Workshop After Six is our small family business that we established back in 2016, where we design and handcraft leather goods. As a couple coming from conventional full-time jobs, we were first doing our work after the end of our work hours, and hence named our business "Workshop After Six" to praise the devotion we put into this work. Then we have the opportunity to seize our dream of turning our

after-work hobby into a full-time business. Since then our business has expanded, so did our little family. All our items are handmade and hand-stitched from full-grain vegetable-tanned leather, so they are unique to you, they age beautifully and develop a character, and they are used for long years. We choose to solely apply handcrafting processes and use hand-stitching because handcrafted leather items are much superior in strength and durability. Our product range includes wallets, card holders, key chains, journals, coasters, travel organisers, and many more. We also take bespoke orders to address your specific needs in the most unique way possible and we can personalise the items you order from us by hand-stamping your name, initials, favourite quote, or any other choice of words/numbers.

Market days with a castle view 🏰
You’ll find us set up here today with our handmade leather goods — belts, wallets, card holders, keyrings, and more — all crafted by hand in our small studio in Morningside, Edinburgh.

Every piece is made using full grain, vegetable-tanned leather and traditional tools — designed to last a lifetime, not a season.

Emir will accompany Sinan at the stall today. If you’re out and about in the city, come say hello — we’d love to meet you and show you what we’ve been working on!

A damp but lovely day at Stockbridge Market 🌧️

The skies might be grey, but our stall is full of colour, warmth, and the smell of real leather (which we secretly think is better than any candle anyway 😉).

We’re here with our handmade belts, wallets, card holders, and other leather accessories — all crafted slowly and mindfully in our Morningside studio using full grain, vegetable-tanned leather.

If you’re wandering through Stockbridge today, come find us — we’ve got good chat, dry cover, and plenty of beautiful pieces to warm up your Sunday.

Weekend stall prep in full swing 🤓

This is the part most people don’t see: the calm before the market buzz. Every wallet, belt, coaster, and keyring in this photo was made slowly and intentionally by our wee team in our little studio in Morningside.

No machines, no shortcuts — just hand tools, full grain vegetable-tanned leather, and a whole lot of patience (and strong tea).

Every weekend, we load up the stall and head to Grassmarket and Stockbridge Market, where we get to share these pieces with lovely locals and visitors who appreciate things made with care.

It’s not just a business — it’s our rhythm, our craft, and a little piece of our family life wrapped in leather.

Come say hi if you’re around this weekend — we’d love to see you!

Independent shops deserve so much better!

Independent shops deserve so much better!

This is the kind of Facebook post we very rarely, if ever post.
We are one of many retailers who received a letter from Jellycat closing our accounts as part of “the next stage in our brand elevation strategy”

We’ve been dumped!

It is an extraordinary decision for Jellycat to turn their back on loyal stockists who have supported Jellycat for many years. One we have been in contact with has sold their product for 20 years.

We were treated poorly by Jellycat back in 2023, when an existing stockist opened across the road from us. What should have happened is that we should have worked around each other. What actually happened is that we got cut off from every line except Bashful, Baby and Seasonal. This has been incredibly stressful for us, as we couldn’t help taking it personally. We were not happy, but we didn't go public as we didn't want to alienate what was still a very important supplier.

We are not alone. Hundreds of stockists up and down the country have received similar impersonal letters. We wanted to give Jellycat a chance to explain themselves. We sent them an email to the email address in the letter. We got no response. We wrote a letter to one of the directors, but again no response.

We have been ghosted by Jellycat.

Jellycat has been around for 25 years and has become hugely successful. However, they wouldn’t have got anywhere without the support of independant shops, who were prepared to invest time, effort and money promoting their product. Rather than reward the stockists who have supported them over decades, they choose to pull the rug.

What strikes us about how this has been handled is the contempt not only shown towards us, but to our customers too. If customers want to buy Jellycat from us instead of some high end department store, why shouldn’t they?

None of our other suppliers have ever treated us with such disrespect.

What now?

In some ways, we feel relieved as this has been hanging over us for over two years. The immediate post pandemic years were difficult and it is only in the past 12 months that business has returned to normal. Jellycat represented around 8% of our sales so we will take a hit. However, we also feel that there are some other incredibly strong brands coming through. We will champion other brands which are every bit as good as Jellycat.

We are so much more than Jellycat and look forward to a future without this unpleasant company.
