As Mother’s Day approaches in the US, here is one of the most meaningful gift ideas to create together and cherish for a lifetime.🤍

A custom Araminta Campbell tartan or tweed design is a gift of heritage. It is a way to tell a personal story through thread, to set your history into a beautiful cloth that can be worn, used as decoration in a home, and gifted on to family and beyond.

A gift of a custom design is delivered in a special gift box, with swatches enclosed to help the recipient begin to imagine what their design could look and feel like.✨

Tartan carries a rich and fascinating history, traditionally worn to identify members of the same family or clan. Its intricate patterns are far more than decorative, they embody a rich system of numerical and chromatic symbolism, revealing layers of familial and historical heritage.. at least for those able to read them!

Historically, tartan served as a visual language, a way for individuals and clans to express their unique identity. Today, it has transcended its origins to become a global symbol of Scottish heritage, embraced by individuals and companies around the world, each drawing on it to honour centuries of tradition.

And Araminta Campbell’s client portfolio is a true tapestry of excellence!✨

The finest alpaca fleece makes for an incredibly luxurious fibre.✨Beautiful natural colours, strong, and super soft, it has temperature-regulating properties and is even hypoallergenic.

We work closely with carefully chosen British alpaca farms to source the fibre that creates our handwoven and MINTA Alpaca collections.

Did you know that... 🦙
in our Handwoven Signature pieces, we have full field traceability and can name the specific alpacas whose fleece was used to make each unique piece?

Six unique tartan designs, woven in limited editions by rural artisan mills across Scotland in 100% lambswool.✨ Our collection of tartan wearables and interiors is available worldwide through our online shop... well, until each limited edition is sold out!

~ Scroll through the carousel to discover the six designs currently available, and follow the Link in Bio to explore the full collection.

Each tartan in our collection is designed by our Founder, Araminta Birse-Stewart, inspired by her lifelong connection to Scotland’s natural beauty. 🌿 The original colour palettes are the result of a meticulous natural dyeing process that she has been refining for over 20 years.

🧶We work closely with rural artisan mills across Scotland to bring each piece to life. Every partner is carefully selected for their dedication to quality and mastery of traditional techniques, with many of these mills at the heart of their communities for over 200 years.

Which story will you choose to wear?

💌 From Looms to Heirlooms

We have received deeply meaningful messages like these from our cherished customers around the world, who transform our handwoven pieces into true family heirlooms.

To create pieces that carry not only the stories of the hands that wove them and the landscapes that inspired them, but also the lives of those who choose to keep them, cherish them, and one day pass them on, is something we hold very close to our hearts, like a final destination always at the forefront of our minds each time we begin weaving a new piece.✨

We are truly honoured to act as custodians of these personal and family stories, knowing that our work will be passed down through generations, becoming ever more treasured and meaningful with time.

Journeying down from the far north-east of Scotland, Christina and Rosie arrived at the Atelier one dreary afternoon in November. 🍂

We recently invited mother and daughter Christina and Rosie Morton to visit the Atelier for a private shopping appointment. You might recognise journalist and writer from our latest Alpaca-Rose wearables campaign, or indeed from the wonderful BBC Scotland series, Landward.

Her mother, Christina, is a Highlander at heart, born near Inverness, and moving to Aberdeenshire for her nursing career and settling there to raise her family. As fellow lovers of Scotland’s endless natural beauty, we certainly share a lot in common with the Morton mother-and-daughter duo.🤍

"My pieces will be passed down the family where I know they will be loved and enjoyed as much as I do.” – Christina
