Well well well.

It’s been a while hasn’t it.

A lot going on in the background since the big pipe burst of ‘22. I mean, Moray Cup is back. What a time to be alive.

Anyways. Cut to the chase. The end of my 7 year lease is coming up. I’ve endured the worst winter for snow fall on record. The funicular opening and closing like 40 times. Covid. A cost of living crisis. Severe skateboard shortages.

But it’s not all been bad has it. I’ve got to be a part of something that has always been special to me. I got to put my own stamp on the shop that started me on my skateboarding journey. I got to meet some of the best people I have in my life. And I got to see éS reissue The Muska and The Creager. Wild!

If the tone of this post hasn’t made it obvious yet, I do not intend on renewing the lease on 5 Moss Street.

I. Need. A. Break.

So I’m going back to uni. I’m going to be a student again for a few years, get that degree under my belt.

Fear not. I am absolutely not saying “ESP is no more.”

I still have the means to print clothing and boards at home! And I will - but only when it suits me - I want to not worry about bills and deadlines and blah blah blah.

And who knows what the world will look like in 2 years. Hell, who knows what the world will look like in 2 days!

So one day ESP will rise from the ashes once again, what that will mean will be what it is at the time.

In the meantime I have some old stock to shift. I’ve got some help! I’ve known Lewis since he was a wee sprog and his family are all wonderful friends of mine, so it was easy to trust him and his other half Beth to do their thing and they’ll be live auctioning off everything and anything on my behalf.

The good folk at Hopeman Skatepark are updating their funding goal to £30k to resurface the park!

I’m sure any of you that have been riding the park in recent years know how much of a difference this will make to the overall experience.

If you can chip in - please do. The park has been a community project since day one and breathing some new life into the park will only benefit us all!

The team at Hotdog Decals have been making stickers for ESP for as long as I can remember, maybe even longer.

Chris has decided to retire, and as such I’ll have to hunt down a new sticker guy, I don’t know if anyone out there can match the quality of what Chris has been putting out all these years.

Thankfully he had a stash of assorted ESP stuff that he has kept over the years, and I now have a good stock of stickers for when we reopen.

Can’t thank the Hotdog Decals family enough for their support over the years!

❤️

At this rate Forres will have a skatepark before the shop reopens…

For years me and some friends have joked about this, last year we accepted it was actually a great idea and a lot of fun. A THPS tribute band! We’re raising money for next month and it’ll be a hell of a lot of fun!

Trumpets and all.

FRIDAY!

The Hopeman Gala jam is back!

Naturally, under the circumstances this is going to be a pretty low key affair as far as the prize pot goes… I’m putting stuff from my own personal stash in!

But that’s not what it’s about is it?!

92 til infinity!

ESP has been closed since the 13th of December because of a burst pipe in the attic.

It’s been an absolute nightmare but progress is being made in the background.

A lot of work needs done to get back up and open again, the next step is getting quotes from contractors to pass on to the insurance company.

Floors, walls and ceilings need to be replaced. There will be some electrical work needed, and then getting the place fitted and finished ready to open up again!

If you are, you know, or you’ve used a local contractor can you comment below or fire me a message!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Okay. So.

The water was stopped last night, and there is no longer any dripping.

The damage has been done, but it’s not getting any worse at least!

I’m doing a big stock take and taking wee breaks to warm up in between. providing a grand cup of liquid motivation!

Still closed. God knows when that will change.

I’ll keep you all in the know!

MORE SNOW ON THE WAY!

Continued snow forecast before the opening weekend at the Lecht!

I had a big influx of skis and boards in for a service today, so if you’re planning on sliding this weekend - I’d come pay me a visit tomorrow - after that I’m not sure I’ll be able to get your kit ready for this weekend…

But then there’s always next week to play!

ALSO! Don’t forget £20 head to toe rentals for this weekend! No excuses! First come first served!

I will be open 10-5 until Saturday, because I’m going to slide on Sunday!

I will be open on Sunday night after getting back from my slide though! It’ll be a short one, but if you need to drop kit off or pick it up I’ll be there!
