Thursdays Crafternoon session - let everyone know . . .

We will be at our normal time (1.30 - 4)
and normal price (£7) in a new try-out location: Project C**t on Elland Bridge in the quiet room at the back.
There is a coffee shop on site. Can you please support the charity and buy your hot drinks from them.

Bring your projects to work on and get support from your fellow crafters.

Free fabric

Bring a bag or two and take home some fabulous pieces of cotton, silk, upholstery fabric, linen, braids, ribbons, trimmings.
Suitable for quilting, patchwork, textile art, collage, mixed media, applique, memory bears, junk journalism, slow stitching etc etc etc.

Open for the last time 12 - 2

Also a few pieces of bric-a-brac before it goes to Overgate x

I have some final items for sale before I finally close the doors on the studio. They are all currently listed on marketplace with photos but you're probably familiar with most items.

The fabric scraps that are left over will be going to thread republic on Thursday. Just bring a bag and take what you like. I will be open Tuesday from 1 to 4 and Wednesday from 12-2.

Housekeeping:

If anyone has bought or been gifted a gift voucher please let me know and I will convert to cash before I close down.

I will contact COSI club member to arrange your refunds.

Tutors - if you have anything here on display please pop in to pick up or let me know when you are likely to be in the area and I will look after it for you.

There will be a general sale of supplies and materials between now and the 27th so if there's anything you need/want, make me an offer before it goes to the back of my stash. I am not going to fit all this shop gallon into my pint pot sewing room at home!

I've been putting off this post because it has been a horrible decision to make.

As of the 27th May, there will be no more classes at the Studio in Elland.

You've probably heard similar from other people with small businesses who are struggling in the current economic climate. I had hoped to build this little haven of creativity, but since last summer, outgoings have increased by 300% and bookings have decrease by 80%.
I can no longer hang onto those two ends and stretch them towards the middle.

There are a few remaining courses:
Giant Felt flowers - 2 half day courses on 19th & 26th combine together to complete. £30 per session 1 - 4.
Crumb felt witch - by special request to replace the advertised macrame course. Saturday 20th 10 - 4. £50
Kintsugi course now opened up to all as its the last course and I would like it to be a bit of a party. Try the art of Japanese porcelain mending with gold. Bring broken pots if you have them. I will provide some charity shop finds too. Saturday 27th.10- 4 £50.

Kev still has a watercolour class next Wednesday. Weather permitting en plain air at Shibden Park.

Annie's final Stitch-a-month sessions will be on the 24th.

Just let me know if you want to come along to any of these.

As for the future of Crafty Owl

The plan is to keep holding sessions in venues in and around Elland. As a minimum Thursday Crafternoons for working on your projects and once a month on a Wednesday a slow stitching session which will involve all things hand-stitching.
Keep an eye on the page for updates and if you would like to join a WhatsApp group to discuss options going forward, please DM me your phone number.

So, the end of an era but hopefully not the end as I still want to see you lovely people being your creative bests.

In view of the emergency testing on Sunday we are having an emergency Crafternoon session this afternoon, Saturday 22nd April. 😃 You can also to celebrate Queen Isabella (ref. Columbus) and the late Issey Miyake's birthdays as well as the day in 1823 when inline roller skates were patented. Bring any or all of your projects and share a friendly afternoon together.

Have a fun afternoon ladies. Usual times 1.30 to 4.00 suggested donation £7.

With Easter in mind, Kev's watercolour session this week (Wednesday 5th - 10am) is showing how to put these beautiful spring flowers into an appropriate egg shape 🥰

Coming up next week are Annie's Goldwork sessions on Wednesday 12th, morning and afternoon

All the above sessions £20 for a half day course.

The following Saturday (15th) will bring us a new tutor - Elaine. She will be showing how to decorate felt to make it unique to you and then you will have the opportunity using crumbs of these colourful felts to make this fiery dragon or a simple placemat if you prefer. If you have a sewing machine please bring along, but we do have some spares.

Then we welcome back Debbie on the 22nd to show us how to make these cute dolls from wool rovings. You can come for a half day at half price if you like.

All materials included for these two courses £50 for the full day.

Just completed the sample pieces for the corsage session on 29th April. So pleased with them. Did a patriotic flower and a multi-coloured one in batik. Choose your own flower/colour options when you book.

Looking forward to Annie's stumpwork class this Saturday 25th March. Just amazing berries that you could almost pick up and eat! Only a couple of places left for this course.

Next Tuesday afternoon Pat will be running her fabric Easter eggs session. These would look great on a spring tree or a table at a family feast. She is then returning on Saturday 1st April for a day with her cutest jointed Teddy bears.

Kev is returning on the 8th April with his popular Introduction to Bookmaking. I can personally recommend this course as I've made several as presents since I attended.

In between we have Kevs watercolours on Wednesday morning and of course our regular Thursday afternoon Crafternoon hubs.

All courses currently have spaces and if you have a look at our new schedule, I'm sure you'll find something that you fancy having a go at.
