I call him done and name him Biscuit, just finished, 1/12 scale miniature. … Not a very strong name for a German Shepherd Dog but he can be renamed once adopted by a new owner. Our next show … where you can see Biscuit is Kensington Dolls House Festival, November 28th and 29th.

Yes it’s been shown before but what a beauty! Another automata that Alan brought back to life for me. Vintage washer woman by Geoff Lewis. I saw it, it was broken, Alan said buy it .. so I did and of course he fixed it. If you are interested in seeing more of these, Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens in West Sussex has a permanent dolls house exhibition with many of these automata and it’s a wonderful day out.

Alan has spent many hours over the years fixing other people’s Ken Palmer automata but today it was my birds turn to get a thorough service. Now both wings, tail and head move and she still sings beautifully. It always amazes me that such big engineers hands can work on such tiny items

Colour is an odd thing. Looks completely different throughout the day. My favourite is evening time with a soft light … so I’m guessing I’ll be repainting it to try and recreate this soft cream colour in daylight. Still a lot to do to the outside of this house but it’s coming along.

I’ve been making sash windows. For something that appears so simple, they take longer than expected. Am I the only one that thinks ‘I’ll be finished by lunchtime”? 3 days later ….
