🍼 Struggling to find milk for your formula-fed baby because of the ?

TOP TIPS
🤱 If you’re mixed feeding, more if you can

1️⃣ You can use any first infant formula for 0-12 months, whether powdered or liquid – they all provide the nutrients your baby needs. You may notice changes in your baby’s poo but switching between first infant formulas is safe

2️⃣ Follow on formula can be used for 6-12 months (whether powdered or liquid) but NEVER give follow-on formula to babies under 6 months old

3️⃣ 4️⃣ NEVER give growing up or toddler milks or drinks to babies under 12 months

❌ Be aware that no formula milks are necessary at all for children over 12 months

❗ Only use a specialised formula milk (lactose-free, anti-reflux, comfort) on the advice of a medical professional

REMEMBER
🦠 Powdered formula milks are NOT STERILE: Always follow the NHS advice on making up and storing formula to minimise the risk of bacterial contamination which can make your baby sick.

🤖 Formula preparation machines often do not produce water that is hot enough to kill any bacteria in the formula powder, so it’s best to avoid using them at all.

This!….
This graph is totally it…

Breastfeeding often feels hardest right at the beginning.
The learning curve is steep. Your body is healing. Your baby is figuring things out. You’re tired, unsure, and doing something brand new—together.

This graph is the part no one explains well enough: with time, it gets easier.
Not perfect. Not effortless. But more familiar. More intuitive. Less all-consuming.

Your baby grows.
Your body adapts.
Your confidence builds.

What feels overwhelming in the early weeks often softens into rhythm. And if today feels heavy, it doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong—it means you’re in the hardest part.

Stay curious. Ask for support. Rest when you can.
And know this: difficulty early on does not predict failure later.

You’re learning. Your baby is learning.
And that matters more than any single hard day.

This wasn’t going to be my post for today, but I just popped to our local garden centre and saw that they had plant pot recycling…. It’s up the hill on the left of the car park by the ‘goods inward’ sign. This is a hard to recycle plastic, especially black ones. I’ve no idea what they do with them hopefully they reuse them first.

So it’s and I generally try to do a post a day about something I do at home which helps us to be more plastic free… I was trying to take pictures of how I wrap my kids sandwiches up, as they both complain about having lunchboxes.
Basically, I use cereal box inners, bread bags, or any food grade plastic I can wash and reuse, secured with either an elastic band, string or Sellotape.
Elsie is running late and so this is a terrible picture of her sandwiches wrapped in a cereal wrapper ….

I don’t buy clingfilm, it can’t be recycled, I know it’s not exactly expensive but it saves me money not to have to buy something which I then would throw away….. where is away anyway?

Happy Plastic Free July!!!!
This month is time to think about stuff.
The planet IS heating up, we need to reduce our consumption, reuse things and recycle things.
Here’s me and the lovely Hannah talking it through….

Enjoy!
