Lime Tree Quilts

Lime Tree Quilts Handmade bespoke baby quilts, uniquely personalised using high quality fabrics and hand finished. Quilts make me happy!

I love taking my time to produce a really high quality unique hand made product. Many of my clients have bought quilts from me that are now family heirlooms, or treasured memories of important family occasions. I am an artisan quilter based in an ancient English village, surrounded by verdant countryside and majestic mature lime trees which often inspire my designs. I have been sewing since I was

a child on my mother’s knee, designing and making my own clothes as a teenager, and moving on to quilts about 30 years ago. When my baby daughter was born, my dear Canadian friend, Mary, gave me a beautiful little quilt she had made for her, with the words, “Every baby deserves a quilt”. I made my mind up then that I would learn this craft, because Mary was right - in this as in so much else – every baby deserves a quilt. I became fascinated by the whole process of making beautiful quilts in the traditional artisan way. At the time I did not know that a quilt has three layers - a backing, a spongy middle layer, and a top layer that is normally very decorative and personalised. The terminology of quilting was a mystery to me too; I had no idea what jelly rolls, layer cakes and charm packs were, nor fat quarters and walking feet. But I do now, and I just love making personalised, high quality artisan quilts. I make high quality, bespoke quilts to commemorate your family's important occasions - forever.

- birth, graduation marriage quilts,

I’ve cut new stencils, put a new blade in the rotary cutter and created a colour chart.

A colour chart is such a simple way of keeping track of which fabric is which and goes where, especially at the beginning of a project when you’re still new to what you’re planning. It takes ten minutes and saves a lot of wear later on the unpicker!

I’m ready to start cutting. Ooh this is exciting. I love this stage.

Stay with me and watch this beautiful quilt emerge.

Let Her Sleep

Oh yes. Wise words. My mother always told me, “Never wake a sleeping baby.”

This is a beautiful, hand made, unique, sweetly adorable quilt for the precious sleeping ( or not) baby girl in your life.
Made from 100% cotton muslin and cotton with lightweight, breathable 80% cotton 20% polyester wadding for washable durability this charming quilted blanket mat is just perfect for snuggles, naps and tummy time. Romantic traditional appliquéd flowers, trailing stems and foliage are an on trend counterpoint to the powerful pale grey printed message of hope, ambition and faith you have your your tiny one’s future. She’ll be strong and unstoppable!! The backing has a pattern of soft pale grey dandelion heads and the whole has a narrow binding of gentle pink floral cotton fabric with decorative stitching. Machine free motion quilted in a relaxed pattern of trailing hearts, this will surely become an heirloom to be
treasured for generations.
