I was honoured to be involved in the process of dressing Lorna for this prestigious event.

Lorna's mum, Chris Parsons, and her good friend Jan, made this lovely dress for Lorna. The fabric is printed with the Mother's Union logo. I made a few fit alterations, made a shawl, and added white trim.

Over 1,500 members gathered at St Paul's Cathedral for a sung eucharist by the Arch Bishop of Canterbury to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Mother's Union.

An exciting project to be part of. Thank you ladies, and great job with the dressmaking x

Horsehair/crinoline hem - this nylon tape gives structure and shape to a hem. A hem with this is time-consuming to alter as it needs to be unpicked and later replaced.

The original hem was stitched with navy thread, but I've reattached it with invisible thread for a neater finish.

I always think of future proofing alterations where possible.

The young lady wanted her dress strapless. Rather than chop them off, I have stitched them inside the dress. The stitches can be removed should anyone wish to wear it with the straps.
