Almost 10 years self-employed and it took me this long to actually understand something.

The Sunday scaries were never about Monday. They’re about bracing for a version of life that drains you, right after finally feeling like yourself again for two days.

How’s your engagement going? Kudos to all those who put in a huge amount of effort on their social media. Even something relatively simple looking can actually take a fair bit of fannying around.

The dedication it takes to film one 7 second clip: 17 angles, 2.5 hours of editing and 20 minutes agonising over the perfect song. I battle hard to not go down a rabbit hole with audio.

The audience: 19 people, 4 of whom are me, which basically means I’m talking to myself.

Worth every second. 😅

I loved the idea of being a travel agent. I’ve travelled the world, built up lots of knowledge to share with others.

But the reality was different to the perception.

I realised I didn’t want clients. I didn’t want to spend my evenings doing holiday quotes. I didn’t want “what’s the cheapest flight to Tenerife?” and “can you change my booking?” at 10pm. I realised I wanted one thing: to pay less for my own travel, upfront.

Because think about it. You work hard for your money. You’ve already paid tax on it. Then you hand that hard-earned cash over for a holiday… so you can maybe get some of it back later as commission?

No thank you.

Why would I create extra admin just to claw back money I could’ve simply paid less for in the first place?

I don’t want to spend the money and then celebrate weeks later because a bit of it lands back in my account. I want the saving there from the start.

That’s exactly why I switched to a membership instead of building a travel agency around it.

Yes, I do have other hobbies. But if you ask what I like to do for fun, my brain goes straight to “leave the country” every single time.

30k steps, a good cappuccino, a hotel with a view and a memory I’ll talk about for years. That’s the whole hobby, really.
