Created a bespoke patchwork blanket for a lovely lady going through a tough time based on her interests and background. Each pattern chosen represents a different element of her personality.

This was commissioned by her lovely colleagues, and it was truly an honour to be trusted to undertake this project.

When I visited my family for the first time since covid hit, I took advantage and asked my mum to cut out the pieces for my sister's blouse that I'll be working on in a few weeks.

This woman is a genius and it is so inspiring watching her work.

We gave her a sample blouse and the material for the new one, she dissected it in her head and cut out all the pieces freehand.

I aspire to be this level of talented one day. 🤞🏾

101 followers! Can't believe I passed the 100 mark!

My sewing projects have slowed down due to having to repriotisise a few things over the last few months (all to be revealed soon!) But I'm still working away whenever I can find the time and will share some more bits soon!

For now, thanks for the support!

This week I'm working on a few more items for my husband's work - some dog collars, dog bandanas, cumberbands.

In the pipeline is a memory pillow cover, finishing off my sister's blouse and figuring out what I want to do with the material I have! I'm swaying more towards decorative items like pillowcases than clothes as a lot of the material I have is 100% cotton or poplin. I'll then probably start working solely in organic jersey for kid's clothing!

I also need to figure out a better way to market the memory blankets and pillows I make as that is something I'd love to do more of!

Anyway, that's my brain dump/to-do list! Hope everyone has the best week!

I've been very quiet on here recently because I've been busy cooking up a few new things! All to be revealed soon!

For now, one of those is a project in collaboration with my husband's employers using some special tartan to create bespoke items such as face masks, cumberbands etc.

These items aren't for sale to anyone outside of the company which is why I haven't been posting about the process but I'm having an absolute blast being given the opportunity to let my creativity run free!

The next 2 weeks will be quiet too, as I've finally been able to visit my family having not seen them for 19 months!!!

Spent the day doing some cutting ready for a good sewing session tomorrow!

First up - 1 x size 18-24 months skater dress in printed 100% cotton. I looove the inspirational women print, love how it can be paired with lots of different colours! The skirt section of this one will be in jade 100% cotton but other options (swipe to see) will be available on Etsy.

I'm also doing the same style and size of dress in the alpaca print with a pale blue skater skirt.

Next up we have a couple tutus - 1 x grey and 1 x pink with an antique rose pink velour waistband and big statement bow in size 12-18 months (more sizes will be available on my Etsy store.)

Time permitting (tomorrow is house deep clean day as well as sewing marathon day!) I have plans to do a pair of shorts and t shirt in the pirate print poplin contrasted with the bright yellow cotton in a size 3-4 months, but again other size options will be available.

Aaaand finally the stag print. I want to do something really cute with it. Potentially thinking of making another skater dress but reversing the design so that they have a plain black top and printed skirt. 🤔

So many options! Any of the items can be made in any size or print/colour combination.

I'm excited to share these listings as soon as I've made my prototypes and decided on pricing!

Etsy listing for the keepsake memory blanket is live! 🥰🥰

I currently offer these in 2 sizes - 70cm x 100cm and 120cm x 150cm.

Full details (i.e. an essay) can be found in the description section of the listing. See link in bio!

Also listed is my clothing up-cycling service. Do you or a family member have a special piece of clothing you no longer wear? I can transform this into something (dresses, shorts, skirts, tops, etc.) for your little ones!

Upcoming listings to look out for are 1st birthday tutu skirts with a big velour statement bow, and some limited edition cotton dresses/shorts & t-shirt sets!

And that's my first ever memory blanket completed!

This one took a lot longer than anticipated. 😅

Turns out that listening to the tutorials (start off small, cut the clothes into the same sized square and use interfacing to make the material easier to sew) is probably important if you're wanting to be swift and efficient.

But I am stubborn. Different sized pieces are, in my opinion, more interesting to place and to look at. Interfacing, no matter how lightweight, can easily take away how snuggly the blanket is.

And in terms of the size of the blanket - go big or go home right? (This blanket is roughly 1.5m x1.7m)

Well worth the extra time put into this to make sure we got the most out of the different clothes and didn't lose any of the snuggle factor.

Swipe right to check out some of the process!

I've found it hard to carve away time to get through all the projects in my head. Does anyone else wish that there were just a few extra hours in the day? Bank holiday weekend has definitely helped me get on top of a few things.

One thing I haven't gotten on top of is my Etsy shop. This blanket (in a selection of different sizes from a lap blanket to a single sized one) as well as some cute 1st birthday tutus will be going up this week.

After this, I've got some lovely printed cotton material that's perfect for the sunshine we're starting to get, to have fun with so look out for those too!

And because I can't cope unless my 'to-do' list is jam packed, I've also got a special vintage style blouse underway!

Swipe to see my fur baby Arthur passed out next to me working. 🤣 He just can't bear to be away from his humans!

Finally got around to finishing this puffy pink tutu in age 6-12 months with a velour dusky rose coloured waistband and statement bow!

This will be going up on my Etsy tomorrow (with more size choices), and will be available in a grey/silver soft tulle too (again with the dusky pink waistband and bow) as well as pink soft tulle (the version pictured is in a slightly more rigid tulle).

Keep your eyes peeled for a sneak peek of the other bits I've been working on today!

Excited to share the plan for this haul of 100% cotton with everyone really soon!

Some action shots taken by hubby of me working on a tutu coming soon to my Etsy shop!

I personally like tutus made in the style of full circle skirts, as opposed to the typical way of making them with strips of tulle. It takes a bit longer but I find that the shape is more interesting and 'swishy'.

This tutu uses a slightly stiff tulle (I don't know the correct term 😅), but I've also got some softer tulle for an even 'swishier' version being delivered soon!

Can't wait to show you the final products. 🥰

P.S. Can you spot my eldest dog in the background? He just had to be close by! 🤣❤

It has been a productive day so far.

Etsy shop is live, alteration on this dress for a special little lady done (swipe right to see the before), and I'm making a start on the memory blanket!

Can't remember the last time I actually got through the day's to-do list. 😅 Let's hope I can keep the momentum going through to next week. 🤞🏾
