The Story of JQ Dresses

I am retired and create individual baby outfits at home to keep myself occupied. I trained in Haute Couture dressmaking in London after I left college and have many years of experience in making high quality bespoke ladies dresses and outfits. I have made many of my own clothes over the years including my own wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses. I enjoyed making my daught

ers costumes and prom dresses when they were young but I found creating clothing for children the most fun to make! I started JQDresses when my daughters friend had her first child. She asked me to make her little girl a Special little dress to match her bridesmaid dress which was for my daughter's wedding. It inspired me to make a range of individual Special Occasion Baby dresses of which there were ten. I progressed to include Christening Gowns and Christening Rompers which have proven to be very popular. Since then my daughter has given me a grandson! So I expanded my range to include little boys garments. The demand for boys clothing is difficult to keep up with and I'm always looking for new ideas. I'm pleased to say that I now have granddaughter too! I'm slowly moving away from Special Occasion Outfits and Party dresses to more playful good quality day wear keeping my individual style with no two dresses or outfits ever being exactly the same. I don't buy large quantities of material so I mix and match fabrics to maximise what I buy and to waste as little material as possible. I try to make similar garments in a range of sizes so hopefully you'll find something that is in the right size and that you like but if not, you can message me and we can talk through all the options. I hand make all the garments myself. Each one is hand cut, machine stitched, pressed and hand sewn by myself and to the highest possible standard in a pet free, smoke free environment. I always recommend a cool gentle machine wash and cool iron for my garments where necessary and the price reflects the cost of materials only. I'm often told my garments are too cheap but that's because I want you have a lovely individual outfit for as little as possible. Jacqui x
