Some small but meaningful changes are coming to Glasgow PlantMama

Glasgow PlantMama has been a huge part of my life for many years now.

It’s evolved alongside me; shaped by different seasons and sustained by the people who’ve walked through the door, booked workshops, asked for advice, and trusted me with their plants. Many of you have been part of that story from the very beginning.

What began as a small idea has become a real community; and that’s entirely because of you. I don’t take that lightly.

Motherhood and my artwork both deserve more of my attention right now.

To make space for this next chapter; and to continue doing this well rather than stretched thin; I’m making a small but important change to how the shop runs.

From 14th February, the shop will be open one day a week: Saturdays.

It gives me the space to focus more deeply on my biophilic artwork; particularly moss art and bespoke terrariums; while protecting a healthier balance between work and family life.

What remains very much in place:

• Free repotting appointments in store
• Evening workshops
• House-call repotting; just get in touch to arrange
• Commissions for moss art and bespoke terrariums

Saturdays will continue to be proper PlantMama days; thoughtful, hands-on and unhurried.

Thank you for supporting a small business that’s been allowed to evolve honestly. I’m genuinely excited about what this next chapter will bring; and I hope you’ll continue to be part of it.

These pieces were all made by workshop guests 🌿

Across our terrarium, moss, and botanical workshops, the approach is the same; calm, guided, and thoughtfully designed so you can enjoy the process and leave with something you’re genuinely proud of. No prior experience is needed; we focus on structure, materials, and understanding how each piece works, rather than rushing to a result.

Groups are kept small; all materials are provided; and every piece is designed to last, not just look good on the day.

🌿 Beginner-friendly, yet deeply satisfying
🌿 Slow, hands-on, and quietly creative
🌿 Hosted in our Glasgow studio

Upcoming workshop dates are now booking; link in our bio.

A terrarium part-way through the process; this is where the structure takes shape and the ecosystem starts to make sense.

Our terrarium workshops are slow, guided, and thoughtfully designed. You don’t need prior experience with plants; we focus on proportion, layering, and understanding how the environment works, so you can enjoy the making rather than worry about getting it wrong.

Groups are kept small; all materials are provided; and you leave with a finished terrarium that’s designed to thrive long-term, not just look good on the day.

🌿 Beginner-friendly, yet satisfying for experienced plant lovers

A few spaces remain for the upcoming dates; booking via the link in our bio.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to build a terrarium?

In my workshops, you will learn everything you want to know about substrates, tropical terrarium plants, long term terrarium care and the actual build process.

You will make your very own living, breathing ecosystem with your own two hands, that you then get to take home with you to enjoy for years to come.

If you’re interested, tickets are available now on my website (link in bio). I hope to see you soon 🌿🥰

Desperately need options/ ideas/ encouragement?!

I’ve had this beautiful big piece of glass for the last 8 years - it’s followed me to 3 different shop locations and the fear to start has been so real. What do we do with her??

Are we thinking colourful planting? Ferns? Carnivorous plants?? I don’t know!

PLEASE let me know your thoughts in the comments.

As the days grow shorter and a bit greyer, here’s your gentle reminder to move your plants a little closer to the window 🪴☀️

Light levels drop sharply in winter, and spots that were once bright indirect light may now count as low light. Most plants that enjoy a sunny position will slow their growth or even rest for a while, and that’s perfectly normal.

If your space is on the darker side, a small grow light (or even a full-spectrum LED lamp) can make a big difference. Just keep plants away from radiators, heaters, and chilly drafts, as they dislike sudden swings in temperature.

You may notice slower growth or the odd yellow leaf over winter, but don’t worry! Your plants are simply conserving energy for the brighter days ahead. 🌱

Save this post as a reminder for your mid-winter check-in, and tell me which of your plants has the best window seat right now.. 🥰
