A box of monochrome goodies that headed to my lovely stockist this week, please do pop over and give them a follow. It’s so important to support your local shops, they’re the heartbeat of the local community and even better there’s also the added domino effect of supporting makers like me through shopping at indie shops like Modern Croft as they support independent artisans by stocking their wares, it’s a win win! 🖤

A pair of BIG HOOPS in the black DASHES pattern that were recently posted off to their new home. It’s always hard to show online, but these earrings are super light to wear and are a personal favourite 🖤

W H O. W H E R E. W H A T. Hello! It’s Jenni from here for today. I’m a designer and maker based in Glasgow, with a big love for all things full pattern, geometric shapes and of course monochrome. My design background is based on textiles but I cover an array of mediums creating wooden jewellery, hand printed art prints and digitially designed textiles like scarves, giant tote bags and lampshades. I’m ever expanding new products into the mix so hopefully this reel offers a little glimpse into the collection.Everything is designed and made in my home studio here in Glasgow.Originally from Bangor, Northern Ireland, I’ve been living in Glasgow since 2009 and have taken part in Tea Green Events over the past few years and can’t wait to be back at Kelvingrove at the end of the month!

W H Y & B Y E

It’s my last post for today .
So I thought I’d share a little range of my finished pieces and my stand in all its glory in the beautiful which is where I’ll be with at the end of the month.

I have always had a creative side as long as I can remember, so I can’t imagine not doing what I do in some capacity. I love the hands on approach to my work, being able to get fully immersed in the making. It really does calm my mind - art therapy truly is a wonderful thing.

While my background was in textiles I kind of stumbled into making jewellery as I’d been playing around with some ideas and made a 3 Ball Necklace for myself and then got asked to make one for a friend, then another, then a stranger and it just snowballed from there!

Now I have fantastic independent shops in Scotland and beyond now stocking my monochrome goodies. Along with my wonderful stockists you can find everything on my website (where you can find a list of my stockists too). Check out my bio for the link.

Thank you all for following along today, looking forward to getting back to Kelvingrove at the end of the month - I’ll the there for the full weekend, it’s my favourite place in Glasgow and I can’t wait to get back 🖤

W H A T & H O W
It’s back again for my second post for .

I thought I’d share a little bit about the processes of everything I make, all of which happens in my studio in Glasgow.

I’m a mark-maker at heart so all my pattern designs begin in the sketchbook with pen and paper, endless drawings of repeated marking to build patterns and designs - which then are translated across my collection - some more obvious and directly such as in my scarf designs, but with the jewellery it may be just one part of little bit of drawn pattern which when hand painted onto the 3D wooden shapes - giving it a whole new personality once 3D.

Before I can do any of the painting on the jewellery, all the wooden pieces need to be prepped. This includes drilling holes, lots of sanding, base coating before I can do the fun hand painted pattern which is my favourite and I find it so therapeutic.

I love the hand finished nature of my work as it means no two pieces are ever the same, there’s always different tones and markings to make each piece special.

My least favourite process is probably hemming the scarves, I love a rolled hem but it can be quite fiddly and when it’s not going quite right, incredibly frustrating. My makes are also not the cleanest of processes so I end up walking threads and fabric everywhere while covered in paint!

For my textiles I love adding a little bit of red thread somewhere - a nod to the only colour I use - swipe to see some stitching around the paint pattern on the shopper bag.

Before anything leaves the studio, whether for a customer or a stockist, everything is then gift wrapped in (you guessed it) monochrome tissue paper 🖤 Hand made from start to finish!
