ONCE THE FOURTH largest lake in the world, Central Asia's shrinking Aral Sea has reached a new low, thanks to decades-old water diversions for irrigation and a more recent drought.
The cotton crops were seen as far more valuable than the Aral Sea fishing economy, which had once been the backbone of the regional economy. This is one of many destructive impacts Fashion has had on the environment.

Toxic chemicals washing into waterways and entering the ecosystems, is becoming a major source of pollution, especially in developing countries.

Our next useful tip is - Donate your unwanted clothes

Donating your unwanted clothes to a good cause, rather than leaving them hanging in your wardrobe will help others to be more sustainable, who will invest in your old pieces, rather than buying something new. A great way to do this is to have a one-in, one-out policy – live by the mantra that every time you buy something, you'll donate something else in your wardrobe.

See the link below for various places in Glasgow you can donate you clothes too.

First tip to reduce Fashions impact on the environment is simple - Buy Less!

Even the greenest garment uses resources for production and transport to your home, creating some environmental impact.

The most environmentally sustainable jacket is the one that’s already in your closet…🧥😀

Fact of the day ; In 2015 alone, the fashion industry consumed 79 billion cubic meters of water - enough to fill 32 million olympic size swimming pools! This figure is set to increase by 50% by 2030 😳

Over the next few days we will be sharing key things that you can do to help reduce the amount of water the fashion industry is currently consuming. 😀💧
