The brilliance of Brian Sweeney

3 nights at the Barras in the company of - I’m well out my depth but know Sweeney will look after me and keep me right. If I pay attention I’ll pick up a few things. Everybody he asked ‘Do you want your picture taken?’ - ‘Can I take your picture?’ - everyone accepted and he made the experience easy. That’s from taking shots of The Farm and shots of the Mondays to photos of the cool and interesting people there for a good night. Right place right time, never missed a beat. He took this photo last night. Love it.

When we saw the Happy Mondays were playing 3 nights at the Barras we thought we have to be there and document it. Create something visual. As much as gigs are about the bands and if they turn up, it’s about the people, all walks of life stepping through those doors and coming together. The crowd always turns up at the Barras and so do the bands. It’s a holy trinity of band, crowd and venue that creates a little bit of magic.

We will publish a small book of Sweeney’s photos over the 3 nights, you might even be in it. The Happy Mondays at the Barrowland. Hopefully it’s the first of many. we have our eye on your gigs coming up in Glasgow, another special couple of nights.

Sweeney you’re cool as f**k and amazing at what you do. I just love being around that. Thank you for having me as your side kick ✊

Last week we went to see Gallus sold out gig in McChuills. Great songs combined with an energy unmatched. Next gig is the Art School - Glasgow.

Thanks to Jokey for sorting us out with tickets. Simon Donnelly for switching us on to the band. Marco and Alex for the good company. The band for giving us their time and McChuills for being the best boozer in Glasgow ✊
