Hello everyone! It’s been awhile and my little page definitely needs some love.
Just to introduce myself again to new followers of my little bookshop.
My name is Lara and I am a Filipina based in the UK. I work part time as a nurse in London and spend the rest of my days with my little girl named Lia and my husband Boris.
I started my bookshop mainly for Lia. My little girl can never resist a book even at an early age. I can remember her very first book was an usborne book and it is still with us, intact and definitely a survivor of the “mouthing phase”. Plus points for durability!
I wish to reach parents with young children because I have seen how books can have a great impact on their young developing minds firsthand with my very own little one. In a world where we have the finest technology at the tip of our hands, it is very easy to forget about books. But believe it or not, babies and children still learn through ALL of their senses, touch, sight, smell, taste and hearing. And I firmly believe that, though technology is great and convenient, there is more learming they can get out of a physical book.
My bookshop is called The Hiraya Book Club. Hiraya is a Filipino word meaning “imagination” and I hope that with every flip of a page from these books, it will ignite their curiousity about the world they live in and spark their “Hiraya” so they can be the best version of themselves. ✨
