This design is inspired by Paul Klee's 1938 work Reicher Hafen, Bild einer Reise (Rich Port, Picture of a Journey), created during one of the most turbulent periods of the artist's life.

Just five years earlier, Klee had been dismissed from his teaching post by the N**i regime and forced to leave Germany for Switzerland. At the same time, he was battling the onset of a serious autoimmune illness. Yet some of his most powerful and distinctive works emerged during these final years.

Gone were the intricate geometries of his earlier paintings. In their place came bold black lines, symbolic forms and simplified shapes that feel remarkably modern even today.

Nearly a century later, Klee's visual language remains as striking as ever, transformed here into a wearable work of art.

A little Dutch Golden Age drama for your Wednesday afternoon. 🌷

Our Van Huysum Still Life silk scarf takes its inspiration from the lush floral paintings of Jan van Huysum, where every petal was painted with almost obsessive detail and radiance.

One of those pieces that feels just as beautiful thrown over a white tee and jeans as it does dressed up for dinner.

Silk that tells a story. ✨

Some patterns travel centuries before they reach a silk tie.

This design takes inspiration from Indiennes: richly decorative textiles that travelled from India and East Asia into Europe, where floral motifs and intricate trellis patterns became hugely sought after.

What still makes them feel modern is the balance. Structured geometry paired with loose, painterly flowers.

Our 'Indian Blue Floral' silk tie draws from that tradition, bringing centuries of textile history into something very wearable today.

A pattern with a very long journey behind it!

Take me to the RHS - Royal Horticultural Society's Chelsea Flower Show. I’ll bring the peonies.

Inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s delicate 'Peonies' watercolour study from 1920, this silk habotai scarf captures the softer side of floral design: painterly petals, warm spring tones, and flowing botanical forms.

A fitting companion for the Chelsea Flower Show this week.

Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s work sits in that rare space between architecture, art, and decoration.

Inspired by this original poster design, these 'Lady with Doves' silk pieces reinterpret the elegant geometry, flowing lines, and stylised natural forms that became synonymous with British Art Nouveau.

More than a century later, the balance of structure and softness still feels remarkably contemporary.

Royalties from licensed designs help support Glasgow Life and its museums and collections.

Do you consider the tie or the scarf to be the better reincarnation?

In Renaissance Florence, hunting was far more than sport.

It was ritual, theatre, symbolism, and status. It was a carefully choreographed display of power played out across forests and wild landscapes.

Our Hunt in the Forest silk scarf draws from Paolo Uccello’s extraordinary late 15th century painting, where riders, hounds, and shadowed trees pull the eye deep into the unknown.

A scene filled with movement, mystery, and remarkable perspective.
